Adding realism to pro wrestling

Before Smackdown moved to cable I would watch it regularly along with a few family members. When a larger wrestler would sell Mysterio's 619 they would laugh. When he would defeat a much larger wrestler they would laugh again. Some feel wrestlers of all sizes should be pushed while others feel smaller wrestlers defeating larger ones is an embarassment to pro wrestling. Where do you stand on this?

Bring back the cruiserweight division and have them battle it out. I agree it's hard to believe a small guy defeat a much larger guy, but the underdog story works in this case. There definitley is a place for smaller guys that can put on great wrestling matches.

Then you have tweeners like Shawn Michaels, Eddie G, and Benoit who can fulfill both classes.

a little guy can easily kick a big guy's ass, I think BJJ and more generally speaking MMA has shown this quite clearly

Kurt Angle is 6 foot 240 and Kane is 7 foot 325 who do you think would win in a fight? There's a well-known story about how Jericho held his own against Goldberg, and while the disparity between the two isn't as great as the two examples cited above there's another known story about how Booker T kicked Batista's ass.

As for the question itself: charisma, mic skills, in-ring ability and connection with the audience should be the primary factors in determining a guy's spot. Not his size.

I have no problem with "little guys" beating "big guys", but it has to be booked at least semi-consistently. Nothing to me looks more ridiculous than (hypothetical example) the Big Show in beast mode taking 6 Wade Barrett chair shots without batting an eye on Monday, then being stunned into immobility by a single Evan Bourne elbow on Friday.

I am not sure what you're talking about. How small is the person you're referring to? I'm looking at someone like Kidman in his feud vs. Hogan, or Mysterio winning the Smackdown Championship. There is such a discrepency in strength and size in many instances that it makes it not believable. I can understand both view points so I'm around 50/50 on the issue.

That's a pretty big size difference.

I think it's all up to the guys wrestling. There are ways to make it feel realistic. They don't need to stop putting smaller guys with bigger guys - they just need to save it for two guys who can pull it off. HBK always worked better with guys bigger than him.

With good psychology and physiology it can absolutely be believable that a smaller guy can beat a bigger guy. Submissions and limp manipulation can work on the biggest of guys if used properly. Obviously in the Pro Wresting world the smaller guy would have to do more acrobatic stuff to have a chance.

If they made a match where Evan Bourne outslugged The Big Show however, that would look very hokey and unrealistic.
