Sin Cara suspended

STAMFORD, Conn. – In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Luis Ignascio Urive Alvirde (Sin Cara) for 30 days for his first violation of the company’s policy.

Interesting. Doesn't exactly explain the injury spot last night though. Why make it look like he's out due to injury, then announce on their website that he's been suspended for the wellness policy?

I guess I'm reading now that it does explain the injury spot.

I've never understood WWE.com. Do they keep kayfabe or not? They seem to be all over the place.

Even though they put it on the website I don't think they'll put it into the storylines. They usually haven't in the past

I'll put that post in here

Sin Cara is suspended? **** that was my first pick.

And jhf's punk pick who I made fun of is probably going to get much better value than I thought. Damn

Oh well.

They don't. When Mr. Kennedy was suspended the storyline was that he was suspended for lying to Mr. McMahon about being his son but wwe.com has the wellness violation story.

Poor HHH. He's gotten off to a rocky start with the talent he's brought in. Didn't he help push Kharma with those vignettes?

Interesting. I'm not sure what their motive would be for not keeping kayfabe. The internet is going to get the news eventually anyway - why not just let it come out naturally and keep the illusion going on the site? it's not like they did an article on how Vince didn't really blow up in a car. I imagine that night their main story was "Is Vince McMahon Dead!?", or a pun based on it.

I remember reading that when Joey Styles took over he wanted to add some realism to the site and I guess the rationale would be that it usurps some power from the internet sites because they'd never be the first ones to get this story. But also that the majority of wwe.com viewers are the "smart fans" so its pointless to act like they wouldn't know the real story.

I always viewed WWE.com as the site that the casual, "not-smart" visited. I just use it to verify rumors about releases and such.

WWE announced Monday morning that Luis Ignascio Urive Alvirde, who performs as Sin Cara, has been suspended for 30 days due to his first violation of the organization's Talent Wellness Program.

PWInsider.com reports that WWE was notified of Sin Cara's drug test failure in early June, but did not suspend him until today. He is believed to have tested positive for anabolic steroids.

F4WOnline.com adds that he may not be brought back.

Sin Cara was written off television during last night's Money in the Bank pay-per-view. During the SmackDown Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Sheamus viciously powerbombed the masked grappler from the ring apron through a steel ladder. He was subsequently stretchered to the back by paramedics. To explain his absence from television, WWE.com announced this afternoon that he suffered a posterior fractured rib and will be sidelined for at least four weeks.

That would be a sad note to end on. And anabolic steroids? Wtf... The guy has clearly spent too much time around Rey.

The rocky start, the trademarking of name problems, now this. I wouldn't be surprised if they just said bye.

Sucks for averno, too.

I'd still be pretty surprised if they released him. He's still Trips' pet project and really the only guy whose career was really hurt by a positive test was Kennedy and that probably had more to do with the fact that he was very vocal about how steroids wasn't a big issue in the WWE and he even did some mainstream media interviews about the subject so when he tested positive it wasn't the test itself as much as the fact that he made them look stupid.

Sin Cara, who was suspended Monday by WWE for violating their Talent Wellness Program, spoke to Mexican newspaper The Record to claim his innocence.

The masked grappler says he was informed by WWE officials that he tested positive for steroids. He requested clarification on the matter and noted that he would be meeting with company officials this week.

Cara said many medications contain steroids and he believes a routine injection to his knee to alleviate persistent pain triggered a false positive. He denied taking steroids, noting that he isn't built like a person who uses them.

Regarding his real name being made public, which is considered taboo in lucha libre, the SmackDown Superstar said it was wrong but fans are more interested with seeing his face.

The full article, which contains audio, is available here.

F4WOnline.com reports that Sin Cara failed a drug test in June. He told officials that he could produce a prescription for the substance he tested positive for, but was unable to satisfactorily do so after several weeks.

isn't Sin Cara coming back? Hunico substituted for him while he was away, kind of like a Suicide of TNA move by WWE. it was pretty obvious since Hunico was bigger and taller. I remember Booker T saying Cara came back prepared and bulked up to cover his absence but not all people are stupid to notice the difference.

I think WWE should not give up on the original Sin Cara. once he's brought back, an impostor Sin Cara storyline between Mistico and Hunico would be interesting imo. sucks for Averno though.

Yeah apparently he returned
- The original Sin Cara returned to action at last night's WWE SmackDown live event in Tacoma, Washington, as Daniel reported last night. He defeated Tyson Kidd with the Spanish Fly. For what it's worth, one fan in attendance noted that it looked as if Cara was rocking a blond mo-hawk under the mask.

He made that comment for exactly that reason. No one is dumb enough not to notice the difference. It was entirely tongue-in-cheek.

Sin Cara came back and apparently he was rusty, really rusty that they re-taped his match!

please let Hunico dressed as Sin Cara interfere in one of Cara's matches and let the story build from there.

PWI update: Sin Cara Gone for Good?

In an update from my earlier story on Sin Cara, WWE sources are indicating that the original Sin Cara (Mistico) was sent home from the Calgary Smackdown taping after meeting with WWE officials. Mistico left the building before the tapings ended.

Going forward, sources claim that Hunico will exclusively portray the Sin Cara character, which WWE wants to maintain as its been very popular among kids and in merchandise sales.

Everyone I have spoken to expected the artist formerly known as Mistico to depart WWE, but nothing has been 100% confirmed on that front.

The Sin Cara story is an absolutely bizarre one if this is true and not a work.

I saw someone online a while ago argue that you can't just slap a mask on a guy and get him over. Well, it sounds like we're about to find out.

I say good luck to Trips and Hunico in this one. I'll be rooting for them.

Wait this is confusing. So it was Hunico who botched the matches with Slater. If that's what happened, then you'd think they would have given Mistico one more chance.

Words must have been had, I doubt he's coming back.
