This thread seems a little tasteless. What happened to the Benoit family was a tragedy and should not be treated as flippantly as this

ooooo really?

That is why there have been thousands of where were you on 9/11.

Where were you when JFK got killed.

Hell I recall the NY Times doing pieces on both topics.

I was just thinking about this earlier today. I don't have a ton of "I remember where I was on..." moments, but I vividly remember where I was when I found out about the Benoit news.

and where were ya?

I was actually on here. I watched Raw and was very emotional over the subject but also very curious as to what happened. The OTB had a thread and **** just kept getting more and more intense when raw ended and the thread was getting huge as details kept coming in.

Also, how is this thread tasteless? He's not making light of the subject.

Not an interesting story or anything. I read it on the internet (possibly this board?) on a break at work. Talked about it with the couple wrestling fans we had there. Nobody knew about the murder-suicide stuff yet, so it was an entirely different conversation than the one we had the night all that stuff came out.

I asked cause for some reason I thought you were there posting when the **** was breaking. Was a real **** up time, I never viewed the off-topic board at the time, I stroll over there to see if there saying anything and everything was breaking.

The Raw itself was really sad. Edge got me, even HHH. Vince in the ring alone. Crazy stuff.

Well perhaps I would not call it flippant if you had posted what happened and explained your feelings on the matter instead of sounding like a teenage girl texting

Me either. Just Monday morning bitchiness I think.

In regards to the topic, I have no clue where I was at or what I was doing. The Benoit family tragedy happened during a time that I wasn't paying a ton of attention to wrestling. I vaguely remember hearing about it on the news but that's about it.

I remember being at work and seeing the story online and refreshing all the news sites to see what was gong on in Georgia as more and more kept coming out.

It was very disturbing and sad.

disturbing story that we still can't really comprehend, only assumptions, I assume domestic violence coupled with dementia

but what I can understand and quite franky makes me laugh today was the news media for weeks running stories on this every day, digging up Marc Mero from the grave lol, Suoperstar Billy Graham, Chris Nowitzki, all these people with their agendas, and what really shocks me is how well WWE survived that vicious storm of backlash, first steroids and then this, in spite of how bad their PR was (although they've made far-reaching efforts since to make it better), that company can survive anything

Definitely. As a wrestling fan, it was pretty sad to see all these using a tragedy to grasp on to a little piece of relevancy.

I don't think Nowitizki has an agenda. He is just trying to do brain research on those who suffered concussions in pro sports.

I remember the site I used to post at which has closed since. It was a roller coaster of emotions. People all sad that Benoit and his family were killed thinking it was a home invasion and then angry when people realized it was murder suicide.

Well that's his agenda. He wouldn't have gotten air-time were it not for the Benoit stuff.

Was at work when my buddy called me and told me the news. Surprised cuz the first thing I thought about was Eddie Guerrero. That death was still fresh in my mind.

When I got home and heard the first reports of him being murdered. I swear I thought Kevin Sullivan had something to do with it (not joking). Then when I heard he killed his family and himself, I honestly couldn't and didn't want to believe it.

At first I was trying to think of ways that Benoit couldn't have done this. He was one of my favourite wrestlers. One I had supported through his lack of push in WCW all the way to WWE. And this happened and the worse was that poor little boy, struggling with Autism ( IIRC correctly ) and have this happen.

I don't have any great story but I remember reading it on the internet as the story was coming out and I was shocked. When Eddie passed I stopped watching wrestling as much but would still follow what was going on. When the whole Benoit situation went down I really stopped paying attention to wrestling almost completely up until about 2 years ago. I remember thinking what's the point of following these guys and getting behind guys when they are all dieing. Sad time in wrestling.
