DDP's campaign to rebuild Scott Hall. (Surgery Date Set)

Post#1 » by Secueritae » Sat Mar 9, 2013 4:48 pm

Edit: Goal has been reached and Scott Hall's surgery is scheduled for the 9th of April

If you're unaware, Hall has been in awful shape in the recent months unable to excercise or even to walk properly. As a result he needs hip replacement surgery because of too much arthritis in his hip. He's been staying with DDP instead of rehab as rehab has failed him 3x prior.
In order for DDP to help Hall he's trying to raise $80,000 to get Hall the surgery before proceeding to do his Yoga.

Hall has been sober for the last 40 days.

DDP has been able to help Jake Roberts recently and Jake has dropped 75 pounds from August 2012 to this January.

I'm sure the money will get raised, it did for Jake, and it's already at 17 K.

Good for Scott to being sober that long.

I've been checking in on DDPs YouTube channel three or four times a week for new videos since the Jake stuff started.

Razor was the first favourite wrestler I ever had, so I'm putting in 30 bucks pretty easily. It's really a damn shame that he needs an operation and has to essentially beg for it. I don't want to get into a political thing, but that's disgraceful.

Yea I agree it's disgraceful, and all of his drug abuse has pretty much handicapped him to the point where he has no other choice but to ask for money. The thing that makes me feel better about this is that he is with DDP and has been sober for more than a month, and knowing DDP will handle all the money, I hope Scott delivers on his end and stays clean/ gets healthy again.

Amazing. I just came across this and donated a bit on my end. I hope this is seen to the end from Scott Hall.

They are at $30k in 2 days!

I remember seeing the 30 for 30 ESPN special on Scott Hall, it was difficult just seeing him like that. I hope this all works out for him.

I honestly thought he was going to be inducted into the HOF posthumously. That would have been tough to watch. Now it seems like he's got a real shot at recovery.

How great would it be if DDP, Jake, and Scott were all inducted in 2014, the latter two after conquering their demons? A man can wish.

Goal met!

He'll definitely be working for it. That's about 2000 8x10s he has to sign. Including mine!

glad to see Hall on the right path, but how much money did he make in WCW? At least as much as Bret's deal. Now he's asking fans to foot his medical bills, well I understand he's an addict but he must have some money saved, DDP lives in a fat house, Nash is still loaded, Hunter and Shawn it goes without saying, they shouldn't really have to ask for charity but whatever, workers will be workers and marks will be marks. If he really is broke then good on the fans for being compasionate and shame on the US health care system

I don't doubt that he's broke. He's been doing those **** indy gigs for a long time now. It would surprise me more to learn that through all the drugs and alcohol, he had enough moments of clarify to save some money.

I have no idea what his relationship is with Hunter, Shawn and Nash. They've probably tried to help several times in the past (on top of what WWE has tried to do for him) with no success. Wouldn't surprise me if they've had enough of assisting him financially.

It doesn't really make me all that squeamish to see these guys asking for charity. He probably sells signed 8x10s at merch tables for 15 bucks anyway. If I was at an event, I'd pay that much for one.

The Internet Wrestling Community is really great sometimes. Not always the group of cynical cretins I often make them out to be.

My guess and this is solely a guess is that Hall might have or is very close to having sufficient funds to pay for the operation, but doing so would essentially bankrupt him. So they decided to go with this option instead. As for his friends footing the bill instead, that's a very fair point. I won't touch the American health care aspect of this because I'll likely say some things that would be rather unpopular around these parts.

Regardless of all of that, it is good to see that Hall seems to be getting his stuff together and hopefully this time it'll be permanent.

Thanks to all who donated to help Scott out.
Hall tweeted out that his surgery is scheduled for the 9th of April.

@SCOTTHALLNWO

I keep waiting for someone to tell me this is a joke. But Survey says: it's for real.
Operation set for April 9. Thanks for all the love

I hope Scott Hall can get it together. When I lived in Orlando he used to come into my work quite a bit. He was a mess way back then too, and kind of a dick, but it would be great to see him clean himself up before he kills himself.

You're welcome.

To summarize the work he's going to have to do at this point in the campaign:

Scott will have to sign 1,647 8x10s
Scott will have to make 427 phone calls
Scott will have to make 67 Skype video calls

And there's still 18 days left. He's going to get real sick of those phone calls after about a dozen.

I love that he has a toothpick in his mouth while doing the interview in the hospital bed. Vintage Scott Hall.

I love how he was using wrestling parlance to describe what was going on: "They stuck this gimmick down my throat to help me breathe."
