Night of Champions!

Post#1 » by WRau1 » Sun Sep 15, 2013 1:35 pm

On September 15, World Wrestling Entertainment will present its annual Night of Champions pay-per-view, live from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich.

With Daniel Bryan challenging WWE champion Randy Orton in the main event, Alberto Del Rio defending the World Heavyweight title against Rob Van Dam and Dolph Ziggler taking on Dean Ambrose for the United States Championship, there is no shortage of matches capable of stealing the show.

Night of Champions has featured several high-profile, high-quality matches in its six years of existence. Superstars such as John Cena, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Triple H and Edge have been responsible for several memorable championship matches at the September pay-per-view.

Packers at noon, Manning v Manning at 315 then wrestling at 7. Fill in the day with various foods that are bad for you and this is an amazing day!

Punk v Heyman/Axel

Spoiler:
A ton of reports popping up that a new Heyman guy debuting tonight, most money is on Barrett, McIntyre or Chris Hero. Hero is gaining momentum because he recently returned to NXT in a lot better shape. Corey Graves has been mentioned.

Predictions:

Bryan gets screwers, Orton stays champ through tonight
Punk wins, Axel has another forgettable night
Last couple PPV's I wouldn't have minded Del Rio losing the title, this is not one of those PPV's
AJ should win
PTP win the tag team turmoil
Ambrose retains by DQ, Ziggles gets his ass beat by the shield.

Don't know what it means that I'm more excited about the Divas title match than the WHC match. I think it is more an indictment of the WHC match which does not have my interest at all. As for predictions: I've got Nattie, Ziggler by DQ, ADR, Punk eliminates Axel and a new Heyman guy debuts and Heyman beats Punk, PTP wins the tag team turmoil match but loses to The Shield and Bryan gets screwed.

Spoiler:
My money is on someone with a past with Punk or Heyman, which puts my money on Matt Morgan (former member of Team Heyman), Luke Gallows (fellow SES member) or Hero (frequent Punk opponent on the Indies.) I think Hero and Gallows are the most likely with a slight lean towards Gallows.

In regards to the spoiler discussion...

Spoiler:
I think Hero is the most likely because of his past with Punk. Wouldn't be surprised by Graves though because he has similar look as punk and maybe Heyman can say he's the new improved Punk.

Predicks:

Bryan by DQ
Punk over Axel/Heyman
RVD over ADR
AJ to retain
PTP to win the turmoil match
PTP to win the tag titles (and lose them tomorrow)
Ambrose over Ziggler

Most excited to see:

-Another Cesaro giant swing!
-New Heyman Guy?
-Ambrose/Ziggler if they get 15+ minutes (possible MOTN)
-Continuation of the Corporation storyline/HHH heelin' it up

Spoiler:
Graves is a logical option for the reasons laid out but I don't know if you really want to debut a guy against the 1A babyface. Its why I don't know if Hero will be the guy either. Its why I'm leaning slightly towards Gallows. You can put Gallows in there and he can be the feud for another couple months, eventually Punk wins and moves on to the rumble.

New Heyman guy, cool.

Really interested in how they book the main event. I'm expecting a dirty finish, I just hope both Bryan and Orton look strong coming out of it. Ref interference seems likely.

Also don't really care for the WHC at all. RVD should win though.

Anybody think it would be neat if they can tie the Divas title into the Corporation angle? Tonight can lay the seeds for a Natayla-AJ feud, where eventually Natayla turns heel and becomes the companies new face of the Divas division.

Unfortunately, HHH was acting like the face. I'm against HHH-Heyman interactions and especially if one is going to act like a babyface.

When HHH said he was gonna give a title shot to the first person he saw backstage, Kofi ran to the entrance area, not knowing he would be the only one.
