CM Punk Took His Ball and Went Home?

Post#1 » by kblo247 » Wed Jan 29, 2014 7:00 am

CM Punk, who did not appear at last night's RAW, also did not appear at tonight's SmackDown taping in Toledo, Ohio, despite being advertised for the event.

WWE has since removed Punk from almost all their upcoming events on the events section of their website, although he remains on the Elimination Chamber page. It is not known at this time if Punk is injured, or if something else is going on.

UPDATE: F4WOnline.com reports that Punk apparently told Vince McMahon at last night's RAW that he was going home and left the show. No further details were available other then that he's been removed from all shows going forward.

For what its worth Alvarez did report in his podcast that Punk was informed Monday the angles were being rewritten and Bryan would be getting the H match. I didn't take him serious, but if he threw a hissy and left, and even tries to comeback, they should still elevate Bryan in status over letting him try and pull a power play

Not saying its true but it is Meltzer saying it now too that he walked off. If he truly pulled an Austin because he can't force his way to the top like years ago  as it's truly Bryan's gain as he would logically be the one vs Triple H and McMahons at Mania

Mike Johnson of pwinsider saying they wanted him to put over Césaro on Raw for the EC qualifying match too and he refused which causes the rewrites to yesterdays raw episode, and then he was told about Bryan taking his spot and pulled an Austin.

Find it less hard to believe since he's the guy going over the shield solo in matches. He's got the ego

Well they've booked Cesaro as a tag-team wrestler; it's incredibly random for him to suddenly get over Punk and be put in such a high profile match. But you can't blame him, he has to be thinking how in the hell does Orton and Batista get over him to Main Event Mania. These circumstances sound like the straw that broke the camels back.

I don't know how to feel about this one. On one hand he needs a break, from another perspective I want him around to do something, and from a final perspective I'm just plain disappointed at his attitude.

But again I am disappointed regarding the Royal Rumble result giving the Batista a "rub" already after four years absence I will probably be upset, or disappointed if I was CM Punk's shoe when you have to go over with AC just little to no build?

One thing I want to add this remind me of the Austin walkoff situation, remember the reports that Vince want Austin to wrestle Brock Lesner on RAW, and jobbed to him, and Austin just walk off because well there is little, to no build to it. That situation is a lot similar to CM Punk according to the reports we have read so far.

Read the SD spoilers is all I can say. They are hyping him for that week. Pay per view spot, raw, SD, and live NXT special where's he expected to top nxts match of the year to launch the network

I don't know if its doing the job or losing the chamber spot. The chamber guys get the big bonus and he's already said he's not sure he supports the network ppv model until he sees his bonus deals. The chamber would be the last regular guaranteed bonus check.

As for Batista, bigger star. Meltzer covered that. Meltzer has covered Punk being a bigger merchandise guy than Randy but the fact is Randy sells better on the house show circuit considerably when they split off the tours. And yeah he only bitches when the part timers don't make him cash but loves Brock, Rock, Taker when they do.

I think Bryan taking his spot was the toughest pill if they truly told him he was getting Trips. That and Punk has wanted to close mania for years as he's said,, which Bryan or Batista have the best shots at depending on title match and or stip vs the authority.

Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez have a breaking news audio update on F4WOnline.com and went into more details on the CM Punk situation. It was believed that Punk was going to leave the company in July when his contract expired. Punk is very burned out and he’s one of the guys that saved his money and his mentality is that he does not need WWE. There were Raw script changes with less than 2 hours before the show and this was because of Punk. Apparently it didn’t boil down to one thing and this has been building up for a while. Meltzer brought up the issue of pay going forward when the WWE Network starts, which is what we heard and reported on in the last update. The talent is wondering how payoffs will look and no one has been told how that is being handled so that could have been a factor in Punk deciding to leave.

Punk posted a cryptic tweet on Monday night that looks like he was saying goodbye to the fans.

I can't see him going over clean. I could see Brock winning clean in 02. Cesaro would have had Zeb, Swagger, and Kane to screw him most likely. I think its all like a stack of things that piled up

sucks to see this from punk if it's true, but i cant say i blame him. either way, if he does come back, this time off to heal completely will help. he was supposed to get a bunch of time off after mania which didnt result in much more than a month. he's looked slower for awhile

tough to say if or when he could come back since he and vince might be the 2 most stubborn guys currently involved in the business. and as said, he's been very stingy w/his money for awhile now.

also would say it's a damn shame we never got to see cena/punk main event a mania

Meh. Just means more airtime for my boyz Dave Bootista and Mike the Mizs or whatever he's called.

But really, Punk had the title for 434 days so if he's complaining about not being at the top right now he should stfu. If it's because Vince just keeps throwing money at meat heads like Lesnar, Rock and Batista then sure I'd be pissed to at them taking someone's spot.

The whole wwe is a mess right now so hopefully this past week might help change things. Wishful thinking though.

Could it be a work? I doubt it because that's way too smart for a creative team that has fumbled so much over this last year.

If Punk is gone, I'll be very disappointed but also understanding. Punk was one of the reasons I came back to wrestling and a big reason I stayed. They've completely dropped the ball on his character as of late and I can't blame him if he walks. When they didn't have him doing this babyface crap, he was the most entertaining man in the company. If I had his resume, had his skills in the ring, had his skills on the mic and got thrown out of the way for the likes of a Dave Batista, I'd consider quitting too. Throw in the awful gimmick he's had lately and I'm sure he's over it. Actually you can tell he's been over it for awhile, but I guess this is the straw that did it.

Think of the real pipebomb that's coming if this is all true! That'll be the silver-lining to all of this.

CM Punk had a big part in getting me back interested in the current WWE product also, but his character has become real stale, he isn't an interesting face and looks like he could use some time off. I can understand him wanting time off, I just hope he's not gone for good.

Like a bunch of the other guys, Punk is why I came back to wrestling too, hadn't watched since the days of SCSA. I really hope he comes back, but I could easily see him retire and stay retired, as he doesn't seem to be the type like Hogan/Flair who cling till they are unable to compete.

Exactly, it's another in a stupid series of booking decision from HHH. If you want to elevate Cesaro have him break from the tag-team scene.

Punk is not the type to not put over guys really. I doubt he's also upset that DB is getting pushed because they're almost in the same boat, the anti-Vince typical guys.

More likely is that Punk is pretty upset at the whole situation of how everything was booked, that Batista comes back and guaranteed the RR and WM wins and that he and DB pushed aside. Then he goes out and works 48 minutes in the Rumble and gets eliminated in a stupid fashion and is told on Monday to job to Cesaro?

Just when I think HHH can't be more WCW he's doing this stuff. I actually hope Punk and DB both walk out on WWE and go to TNA, it's about time they had competition because they are getting super lazy.

quite different from Austin in that Austin no-showed, Punk did his business face to face and decided to leave, nothing wrong with that IMO

here's hoping he buys a stake in ROH :)

Who knows what the story is at this point. He might be back next week and this is nothing, he might have had a handshake agreement with Vince that he'd headline Mania or win the Rumble that Vinnie Mac went back on, he might be legitimately injured and this is being done so his return is a real surprise, or he might just be acting like a spoiled brat.

Somehow I doubt this is the last we see of Punk before Mania.

Say it ain't so! Punk is by far my favorite wrestler since SCSA. There's no one else even close. I'm not really surprised by this to be honest. I mean what has changed since the pipebomb heard round the world? Sure little things here and there, but look at the big picture and the landscape of WWE, and no I'm not talking about their **** buyrates or merchandise sales. I'm talking about the storylines that we get to watch on tv. You've still got HHH and his idiotic wife strutting down to the ring and spewing garbage to start each show. You've still got the most over guy in the company (DB) getting **** on at every turn, just like what happened with Punk. It took Punk dropping the pipebomb to get the recognition he deserved for his talent. What's it going to take for DB to finally get elevated to the top spot? Unfortunately for DB, he doesn't have the same level of mic skills Punk has. Not saying DB is bad, he's actually really good. He's just not on that level.

Don't really know how to feel, I can't blame the guy for wanting out, I hope one day they can patch it up and he comes back in a year or two for the rumble and wins it or something.
