"Breaking News" Hulk Hogan returns to WWE, Will Host WM30

Obviously we all knew this was coming, but here's the confirmation from WWE.

The red and yellow is back, brother.

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has returned to WWE and will host WrestleMania 30 on Sunday, April 6, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Hogan will make his long-awaited return to WWE on Monday’s Raw. He will also appear on WWE Raw Backstage Pass, airing live on WWE Network immediately following Raw.

“We are thrilled that Hulk Hogan has returned home to WWE,” WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon said. “It’s fitting to have him help us celebrate 30 years of WrestleMania and usher in a new era with the launch of WWE Network.”

A larger-than-life icon, Hogan was regarded as the “Face of WWE” when Randy Orton was still in snakeskin diapers. The Hulkster’s rise to sports-entertainment immortality began on Jan. 23, 1984, when he defeated The Iron Sheik in Madison Square Garden to become WWE Champion. That victory began a pop culture phenomenon known as “Hulkamania” with Hogan bringing WWE to international prominence with appearances on MTV, his own animated series and a definitive WrestleMania III main event against Andre the Giant in front of a record 93, 173 fans in the Pontiac Silverdome.

The Hulkster went on to become a six-time WWE Champion, and a WrestleMania icon, battling everyone from The Rock to 2014 WWE Hall of Fame inductee The Ultimate Warrior on The Grandest Stage of Them All. In 2005, Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by his “Rocky III” co-star Sylvester Stallone. His red and yellow boots have not touched a mat since December 2007, but that will change this Monday night.

“Words cannot express how excited I am to be back in the WWE family,” Hogan said. “I only have one question for the WWE Universe: Whatcha you gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild as the host of WrestleMania 30?”

So hes gonna host Mania eh?

Lemme guess, next years mania he will be cleared for a match and face Cena at Mania 31?

Honestly i'd like to see it happen if for no other reason than to make the internet implode on itself.

I honestly don't see there being any possibility of him ever wrestling a match again. His body is DONE.

Yeah i assume thats the case too but who knows. Can't rule anything out in WWE. Never would have imagined Bret Hart getting the clearance to have a "match" but that happened.

I can see it now.

Hogan punch, punch punch opponent poke eye, Hogan carefully lay down, opponent pin Hogan kicks out, Hogan carefully gets up, Hulks up, knock opponent down pin, & Hogan wins.

I remember reading maybe about a year back Hogan saying that there's always one more match if the situation is right and big enough, but man, I don't know. Maybe if he has a nice year of health we can see him in a 4 minute tag match next mania.

I wonder if Hogan breaks character to host WM a bit. I mean his old schtick of 'Brother' could be too much as a host for WM. I would love to see it at first for the nostalgia but through a whole ppv it could be too much.

Anyways, good for him. They should have brought him back and inducted Savage!

I'm hoping for the reverse of this. Let's go back to 1985 when Hogan wasn't a mediocre film and television star. There was way too much of this implied stardom when he was in TNA. I want to see him cut a promo like he's trying sell Wrestlemania for the very first time, brother.

In fact, I'd like to see everyone cutting promos like it's 1985. But that ain't happening.

Anyways, good for him. They should have brought him back and inducted Savage!

That would be an odd choice. I don't think they ever really made up, did they? I'm not sure Lanny would approve.

I think even attempting DDP Yoga would cripple the Hulkster, brother.

I don't mind Hogan cutting a promo or anything like that, i'm saying throughout the WM broadcast it could get stale very fast if he's in that character. Whereas if he broke it a little to change it up, it would be intriguing. Get back to character when with Cena or something, then break again as hosting.

As for the Savage thing, I know that things soured but their histories are so intertwined in the business that I think it might be cool for Hogan to induct him, especially if it was done right and included inducting his father and brother.

I know what you mean, but the only Hogan I like is Hogan in character. Terry Bollea is a bore.

Maybe, to me the bet moments are when guys break character and sort of give you that backstage stories and share experiences over time. Like watching Legends of Wrestling, getting Hogan to share nuggets of information or how special WM is and what the first 4-5 meant and the others he participated in would be more beneficial to the broadcast.

This is 30 years of making stars, talk about Undertaker and their history and how unbelievable his run has been. Talk about fighting Piper, Andre, Yoko, Savage, Rock. How it started and where it is today. Those little things would add elements to the broadcast.

That's where you and I fundamentally differ. I don't want Wrestlemania to be anything like a shoot interview. The more kayfabe the better.

I think it would be cool if everytime we saw him that night he was dressed up in a different one of his gimmicks.
