Rikishi was an odd choice, at least on his own. The whole fuss with Scotty 2 Hotty regarding not getting a mention is warranted, as Rikishi would be nothing without Too Cool; yet I wouldn't say Too Cool or Rikishi whether alone or as a whole warrant a spot in the HoF but if they were, all 3 at once is the fairest way as they were arguably more over than he was.

Another (probably controversial) one is Owen Hart. He was great as a technical wrestler, no doubt, but he hardly changed the business. He was the 90's answer to Dolph Ziggler, Kofi, Swagger et al, but with the Hart name - technically sound, can put on a great match, but was average on the mic and wasn't getting out of the midcard ever. I'd argue if it wasn't for his untimely death and the fact he was a Hart, nobody would even remember him outside of his matches with Bret and 1-2-3, and for breaking Austin's neck.

Someone brought up the possibility of Ivory in the other HoF thread too, which is what made me think of this because my immediate reaction was "Ivory? Why?". Immediately forgettable, the women's division wouldn't have changed with or without her.

apparently rikishi had some sort of falling out w/2 cool too, but i do think it's pretty petty not to include them in his speech as it's pretty much the only reason i know who he is

I don't know when it happened, but I just don't care about guys that get in that perhaps shouldn't. There's no real criteria for who gets in and doesn't and who gets into the HOF is decided by a committee of one. I'm sure there were people that thought The Bushwhackers shouldn't have gotten in this year but after years of seeing how much these inductions mean to these guys its hard to get worked up by a guy getting in even if he didn't have what would be considered a "HOF career" which again, there's no criteria establishing what that is at all.

Owen Hart won the 1994 King of The Ring and was an I.C., European and tag-team champion. He had a
"Wrestlemania moment" and one the most underrated matches in WM history at WM 10. His match against
the British Bulldog for the first ever European tittle in 1997 is one of the best in RAW history. He was apart
of some of the biggest stables in the Attitude Era in the Hart Foundation and NOD and a main rival of the
biggest one in DX. The Hart Family is one of the most famous wrestling families in history and he was almost
as famous as Stu and Bret. He's also the one that really made the Slammy awards seem important.

I think Owen was only 33 or 34 when he died just entering the prime of his career and he already accomplished
a lot. He probably would have never been "the guy" because of his look because he cared more about wrestling then
body building and he was getting booked poorly because of the Austin injury and the Hart Foundation going to WCW.
I also think at the time when Owen passed he was among the leaders of appearing at the most WM's ever a record
he probably would have had depending on what the future held.

I didn't get the Rikishi thing at all...I assume it's a way of honouring the family? Other than paving the way for Brodus Clay to become the Funkasaurus I'm not sure what his legacy is supposed to be.

I think with Rikishi a lot of it had to do with who he sired. It's almost like horse racing in that sense. He's also
a big time trainer as his wrestling school in North Cali is pretty big. I believe him and Gangrel own and operate it
and some big names have come out of there like Rusev.

His act with Too Cool was pretty big during the Attitude Era and he was a fringe Main Eventer for a short while.

A lot of guys get inducted for their contributions to the industry but when they get inducted they only focus with what
they did in WWE.

They barely mentioned that the Bushwackers were a big deal as the Sheep Herders in other promotions before they
came to the WWF as the Bushwackers near the end of their career.
