2016 Royal Rumble

Less than a week away from the Rumble.

WWE really has an opportunity here to generate some excitement. For the first time ever the title will be on the line in the Royal Rumble match. Who will be the next WWE Champion?

I chose Bray and I'm sure I'll be wrong just because of how many start and stop pushes they've given him. If we ignore their history of screwing up his push though, it certainly looks like they might realize they need to make him a top guy finally.

What I want to know is Who's going to be the surprise entrants. Hopefully no 70 year olds.

Dislike. I would mark out so hard if Superstar Billy Graham was an entrant

I won't let the Supastar back because he dissed Bob Backlund in his autobiography. Backlund was my favorite rassler as a kid. But I did like Graham when he came on WCW (or Georgia Championship Wrestling) with his tie-dyed outfit and "Bad to the Bone" as his theme music.

I want to see 2 guys at the Royal Rumble - Brian Danielson and AJ Styles.

Edit - make that 3. Joe should be in it, as well.

And no, Rosey should not be in the Royal Rumble. Hurricane? Meh.

Not to be pedantic but this isn't the first time the title is on the line in the Rumble. The title was vacant going into the 1992 Royal Rumble, regarded by many as the best Royal Rumble. It is technically the first time its being defended in the Royal Rumble, although I'd argue the distinction between today and 1992 is largely a distinction without a difference.

My OCD about language aside, I think there's a few different directions they could go in which is better than previous years when you knew it was going to be 1-2 people. I think there's basically three directions they could go in with the title for WM, Lesnar vs Reigns, Reigns vs The Authority (the most likely), Lesnar vs someone else. If its Lesnar vs Reigns my guess is Reigns wins the Rumble, Lesnar beats whomever eliminated him at Fastlane and that's the match. If its Reigns vs The Authority, it'll probably be HHH winning the Rumble but I hope its someone brought in as a hired gun for HHH and co. Lesnar vs someone else, my guess is it would be Bray and he'd win the Rumble leading to a match between Bray and Lesnar for the title.

Hurricane was the guest on Sam Roberts' Wrestling Podcast last week and it was a very entertaining interview.

Hurricane also made a fairly recent appearance on TNA - not as a wrestler but to sort of congratulate their new X Division winner. It seemed weird, because he walked up there like he was some sort of all-time great being kind enough to offer kudos. Just a little too cocky for someone who used to dress up in a green cape.

What's he supposed to do, come out and act like a jobber?

He was a WWE star, and he's been around the industry like 15 years now so of course he's going to come out and big league the new young champ.

Yeah, and I think even TNA fans understand he wasn't exactly SCSA and HHH - hence the video above. Bottom line - he looked like a jackass.

Back on topic, all I know is there is a big opportunity to do something new and creative, and they naturally will do something stale and boring.

Jericho sort of came out of no where to be a big name going into the Roman Rumble. I don't think he'll win it. but I think he'll have a big part in Roman losing the title.

New Day will have a good showing. For me that's the thing I'm most pumped for. Kofi is historically a badass at the Rumble.

I think HHH wins due to someone, likely Samoa Joe, helping him eliminate Reigns. That sets up Reigns v Joe at Fastlane then Reigns against HHH at Mania. I think Wyatts will pull some tricks to eliminate Lesnar, Lesnar will cost Wyatt the rumble in return, setting up Brock v Bray at WM.

Would've liked to see Wyatt win then run through the roster until The Bullet Club is ready and Balor captures the title.

i want to believe Wyatt will win but lets face it, this company sucks for the most part and has no imagination (its also why WWE doesn't deserve nice things  ) so i think HHH will win or Roman goes full cena and wins it (and gets booed out of the building, again), i mean Brock could win it, wouldn't be that interesting though (Not keen on Brock vs Roman for a second year in a row, and it would just lead to Roman getting booed at Mania again)

Wyatt winning would be amazing, then he retains at mania and runs wild till Balor comes up and the Bullet Club (Fale ain't coming which kinda leads me to wonder who the hell is going to fill his role, Corbin?)
