The problem with WWE today

Post#1 » by Tricky Ricky » Mon Nov 9, 2009 7:45 pm

Is that the belts change wayyyyyyy too much. I think Cena and Orton are already like 7 time WWE champs, Hogan and Hart each retired as only like 7 time champs. Plus when looking at braggin rights WWE had a chance to really really put Orton over as one of the real top guys by sending Cena to smackdown and be the main guy on Raw yet instead of helping his career and even helping out Cena by putting him in a fresh place they do nothing for Cenas or Ortons image/career by having Cena win the belt.

The belts just flip flop too much, its nice to be a 13 time world champ like HHH but by being a 13 time champ that also means you lost the belt 13 times...

I believe both Bret and Hogan won it 5 times each. One of Hogan's title reigns was 4 years. You'll never see that today. I'm not the type who complains about the WWE much today but I definitely agree that the title should change hands less frequently. I also wish house shows had an ocassional title change.

The problem is the heavyweight scene. I'm actually loving everything else right now. I think they've got some great young personalities.

I think Orton and Cena are completely devoid of any charisma, in the ring and out. Raw dedicates a big chunk of time to both of their storylines and honestly makes it hard for me to watch. I usually only catch it on repeats when there's nothing else on.

Also, it's clear what the biggest problem is; the pg rating. They don't have the personnel to pull of an attitude era type show and even if they did, they couldn't do it with the pg rating. I'd love to see them develop more cartoonish characters like the late 80s early 90s. I hate to see them getting on some moral rant about MVP's life of crime, or Jericho calling out Takers gimmick as fake.

Get some people that can do this or this in the heavyweight scene.

Exactly and they make it that the Raw championship belt is more valuable than the Smackdown championship belt. Its like the Smackdown belt is the IC belt from when Mr P and Rick Rude carried it.

For a long time now I've wanted them to go back to a title scene of

WWE Champion
Intercontinental Champion
Tag Team Champions
Hardcore Champion

Hell even the women have 2 titles now, with the DIvas champion and the women's champion. Not like anyone is actually entertained by those "matches" anyway. I love looking at the divas, but when they replaced the female wrestlers (Luna Vachon, Madusa/Alundra Blayze, etc.) with the divas the matches become COMPLETELY unwatchable. Gail Kim is basically the only diva that has any actual wrestling talent and they won't push her for whatever reason.

I would love to see them implement the following:

WWE World Champion and WWE World Women's Champion

Defends Title and Appears on all 3 Shows.

Brand Champions:
ECW, RAW, Smackdown

You must be a champion of one brand to get a Men's title shot. Only 1 of these 3 champions can have a title shot.

IC and US Champs

Become minor titles for new developing wrestlers.

WWE World Tag Titles would follow in this same suit.

WWE's problem is not only the title switching every month, it's that there's two top titles and it's over saturated. They need to unify the belts and the rosters.

HBK still puts on some ridiculous matches though. That match against Taker at WM was one of my favorites all time. That said, I agree that he can't make the kind of impact he could if he were in his 30s.

I can't stand Orton either, and I tried extremely hard to like him. It's rare that I don't like a heel; it's usually the faces I get sick of. I've never enjoyed a match of his, ever.

I have huge problems with Cena too. He's proven to be a hard worker and a likable guy off screen, but the way he portrays his character is cringe worthy. This past Raw was a good example. He started his promo for the main event well; he was funny, and had me with him the whole time. Then he got into that pseudo-intensity thing he does that makes me want to give up on the WWE forever. Maybe it's the pg rating that makes his intensity thing look so fake. Perhaps if he had the freedom Stone Cold and The Rock had, he could pull it off better. The only Cena match I've ever enjoyed was against HBK, but let's be real, HBK could put me over.

Other than that, I love the rest of the roster right now. The young guys; Miz, Bourne, Swagger, Morrison, Punk, Ziggler, etc. I like all these guys.

More importantly, I loooove me some Kofi Kingston. The kid just oozes charisma. I think he can be huge.

I'm getting sick of hearing the complaints after a while. If you don't like the league, just don't watch it. People are constantly complaining on you tube video's in the comment section even in old WCW matches. Though I will say I definitely agree that given main eventers whom people like the complaints will diminish. A lot of people enjoyed the league in the late 1990's, and the undercard was rather mediocre for the most part. It's the main eventers they'll remember and Cena is just not on par with some of the others.

People complain about all sorts of things. I complain about my sports teams. Should I stop watching them? There is nothing wrong with expecting something you have been a fan of for years to put out a decent product. Nothing at all.

I have to agree with Stanford about Kofi. I've been a big fan of the guy for a couple years now. I'm loving the fact that they're finally giving him a serious push. He had me glued to the tv this past Monday with his attack on Orton. Extremely entertaining!

Exactly! That was the moment I went from 'he's good' to 'he's the best thing they've got'. I haven't been that excited watching Raw since Stone Cold. It was very impressive.

He seems like a great kid too. I saw an interview where he was talking about the road trips, when everyone else would go out partying and he and Punk would just stay at the hotel and watch as much old wrestling as they could find. That's awesome.
