TNA Genesis Preview and Predictions

So the first PPV of the Hogan/Bischoff era is upon us. Its something of a make shift card since Hogan's debut will have been just 13 days before the PPV. Its got a potential 5 star match at the top of the card and some solid undercard matches a couple that have the potential to be great matches and 2-3 matches that are probably gonna be pretty bad.

Amazing Red vs Mystery Opponent for X Division title: The opponent will be Jeff Hardy. I feel like the only reason to keep this from being a Red vs Hardy match is because of the fear that Hardy will flake in which case they can just stick Homicide in the match and pretend nothing happened. If its Hardy or Homicide or whomever it is, that person will leave with the title.
Prediction: Red's opponent

Sean Morley vs Daniels: I really hope Daniels wins this match. Morley can be nice as a comedy face but Daniels is a guy who should be at the very least an upper mid-carder. This is one of a few matches on this card that I think will provide an indication as to whether Hogan and co. could be repeating the same mistakes they made a decade ago.
Prediction: Daniels

British Invasion vs Matt Morgan and Hernandez: I don't understand why they split up LAX only to put Hernandez in another tag team. I'll pick the faces although I have no confidence in this pick.
Prediction: Morgan and Hernandez

Abyss vs Bobby Lashley: I think TNA is hesitant to push Lashley because of the fear that he'll leave to pursue MMA full time at any moment. He's still gonna win this match.
Prediction: Lashley

ODB vs Tara: Its cool that their doing a 2 of 3 falls women's match. No confidence in this pick either, I'll take Tara.
Prediction: Tara

Beer Money vs Hall and Nash: This match has the potential to be a disaster. Nash can’t wrestle and Hall is 50 and fat. I’ll take the Outsiders via interference from Waltman.
Prediction: Hall and Nash

The Pope vs Demond Wolfe: This match has the potential to be a show stopper. Since Pope won their last match, I’ll take Wolfe.
Prediction: Wolfe

AJ Styles vs Angle: Angle is not winning this match. With Hogan and Bischoff coming over the biggest fear is that they’ll start putting all the old guys over. 13 days after he debuts, there not gonna put the title on a 41 year old with such a long history of neck issues. The question is will this match be as good as the one they had last week?
Prediction: Styles

Major star debuting: Who will this guy be? I think there are 4-5 guys who I think could plausibly be this guy. There are other names such as Tommy Dreamer but this isn’t a big enough name to warrant this type of hype especially in the light of the recent debuts of Flair, Hardy, and returns of Waltman and Hall. Or people like Macho Man, but come on, that isn’t happening.

Sid Vicious: There are apparently rumors about some in TNA pushing for his signing. You would think a guy who hasn’t wrestled outside of the Indy shows in about a decade they’d avoid but considering Team 3-d is feuding with the Nasty Boys, who knows.
Mr. Kennedy: Ever since his 90 day no-compete clause expired there have been rumors about him coming to TNA. I have been wondering why we haven’t seen him in TNA yet. He would be a bit underwhelming though.

DDP: He’s tight with Bischoff, but I wonder whether he really wants to make a full time return to wrestling.

Goldberg: Ever since he left WWE there have been the occasional but persistent rumors about Goldberg returning. He’s real tight with Hogan, but he doesn’t seem to have shown much interest in returning to wrestling outside of the occasional show usually in Japan.

RVD: If I were forced to put money on someone this would be my guess. He’s tight with Hogan, there have been persistent rumors about him joining TNA and he would deliver on Hogan’s promise.

I'd be good with RVD or Kennedy (now going by Ken Anderson) being the surprise star tonight. I think both of those guys are legit stars that never received the proper push from WWE. I think Kennedy would be a GREAT guy to push to the mainstream. He got a pretty crappy deal from Vince and co. too.

I think TNA should have made the main event with Angle and Styles in a ladder match or steel cage. They already had a sick one on one match on the live show. But a ladder match would be insane.

Besides Hardy being the surprise opponent for Red, I heard that Kendrick might be the surprise opponent as well.

I could see RVD being the surprise star. Number one his name alone has the star power to be a big name to debut. Number two he never liked the push he got and the direction Vince did with the new ECW.

I'd also be perfectly happy with Kennedy, its just that this is a company that in the past couple weeks has brought in Jeff Hardy, Ric Flair and even though they are over the hill Scott Hall and Sean Waltman all of whom except for Waltman have much higher name ID than Kennedy. Kennedy would be a lot like there signing of Christian a couple years ago, good signing but doesn't seem to quite live up to the "Major talent acquisition" title especially in light of who they've brough in the past couple weeks.

I enjoyed the PPV however while I personally dont like the 6 sided ring why piss off the TNA loyal fan base and change the ring?

Also Val Venis beat Daniels!?!?!

And no Samoa Joe?

Somthing tells me Hogan is going to be really good in TNA...or Really bad

My guess is that all the TNA fans will be quiet about the 6-sided ring within a month, as long as the level of entertainment and in-ring performance stays up to par. As long as they have that 6-sided ring, the company would continue to be looked at like a 2nd rate sideshow. Pro wrestling is done in a 4-sided ring, always has been, always will be. 4 sides give the performers more area to work with anyway.

Really didn't see the point in having Val Venis beat Daniels, unless they're going to build that rivalry and then eventually have Daniels build up to beating Morley in the end. No idea why Samoa Joe wouldn't be on their first PPV as the "new" TNA, considering he's known as one of their top 3 guys in the company.

I was reading on another board that people didn't understand why they're kinda tearing down Abyss' character and had him lose to Anderson (gonna take some getting used to), but I think that's just because they're planning on making Anderson one of the top guys. He's got the skills to be a lead dog in the company and is better on the mic than 95% of the wrestlers in either TNA or WWE. I'm not a big fan of the Abyss character anyway, since it's a blatant ripoff of Mankind.

Were those some of the worst predictions you've ever seen or what? Don't ever invite me to Vegas.

Tricky, I like the fact that Hogan and Bischoff are going to be tweeners rather than straight faces. It allows the fans more freedom to react rather than having them jammed down our throats.

I also thought it was a good PPV with the one exception being the Daniels match. I think its absolutely riddiculous that Morley wins this match.

The thing about Joe is that he's so over that you can waste him for 6 months then inexplicably throw him in the heavyweight title picture and nobody would bat an eye. I could see it happening now, Styles and Flair come out cut a promo and if Joe interrupts them he'll get a huge pop.

bumping this because what I was saying about Joe just happened. And like I predicted the crowd loved every second of it.
