TNA Thread:

Post#1 » by pduh01 » Tue Feb 16, 2010 5:31 am

Since there is WWE RAW and Smackdown thread, I think TNA needs it's own thread to discuss about TNA so this is a discussion about TNA.

Speaking of TNA unless I am missing something but I surprise no one haven't mention this that TNA have make a big announcement. The big announcement starting March 8 TNA Impact will move to Monday permanently to watch it the announcement go to tnawrestling.com or you can find it on youtube that there is a press conference making that official announcement.

Thoughts? I give mines later on.

Screw the attitude era. Show wrestling. Make it a dramatic combat sport.

I was watching ECW by then, so WWF's "attitude era" was pretty lame, but I was starting to get over wrestling in general. There were some performers I liked to watch (Foley) or listen to (The Rock, DX), but so much of what they were doing was not what interested me when I initially got hooked on wrestling. WCW wasn't much better, but they had luchadores, Benoit, Jericho, Guerrero... IDK. It all comes down to personal preference obviously and I'm sure I flipped back and forth on Mondays, but I am definitely more familiar with the pre-attitude era based on a quick wiki refresher. Since I was pretty into wrestling before then, something must've happened unless I just "grew out of it".

I enjoyed wrestling because when I was 9, these were real life super heroes (and I've always been into comics). When I realized that it was a work, it didn't matter because I had gained an appreciation for the athletic side of things and the story aspects were entertaining if you suspend disbelief (1-2-3 Kid steals Razor Ramon's bag of chains! Vader is a monster with a racist manager and wants to crush everyone!) UFC was around at the time, but I wasn't allowed to watch it and MMA as a whole wasn't anywhere near as prominent as it is now (duh).

Anyway, this should be about TNA. I've been following the show online when I can, but it's hard to watch. I've liked watching Styles, Angle, Wolfe and Daniels perform. Haven't really caught Anderson or Joe. Saw a Nasty Boy match... that was painful. Morgan is impressive--always good to have a giant. Abyss looks soooo ridiculous.

Kurt is crying and talking about god. Wtf happened to this guy?

Edit: nvm, it turned into a work pretty quickly. Should bring Anderson some pretty awesome heat

Christopher Daniels appears well on his way to becoming a jobber. What may be even more disappointing is that Desmond Wolfe may be on that path as well.

On the plus side, D'Angelo Dineiro is being pushed hard. Even if its only a month, I really think he should beat AJ. Because TNA has done this with a number of guys recently where they'll get the major push, have the title shot, put forth a good effort in the match but lose and then fade back to the mid-card. Happened to Hernandez and Matt Morgan, if I wanna go back a bit Robert Roode and Frankie Kazarian and the most obvious case of this since its happened to him multiple including just recently, Christopher Daniels.

I think The Pope sometimes trys to hard with his promos...but his in ring work is very good. I think after this whole tag team title run, I would like to see TNA push Hernandez...I think he could be a good champ/main event talent. Also as much as I like Beer Money Inc., I hope down the line they give Roode the push he deserves to the top of TNA. I don't mind somethings that TNA is doing, but I have no idea why Orlando Jordan beat Samoa Joe....I don't even know why hes in TNA...the man sucks.

I'm a fan of the push they're giving D'angelo Dinero right now. The promo he and Flair cut last night was some of the best mic work I've seen on a wrestling show in a while. I was extremely surprised by that.

On the flipside, I almost threw up at the "motivational speech" Hogan gave Abyss. That was the most ridiculous promo I've seen from TNA yet. Doesn't help that I can't stand the Abyss character.

One thing that TNA can basically always fall back on is the fact that the in-ring action is usually very solid.

I honestly don't know how any of you guys watch wcw err tna... it's the same show man. I'm not a WWE fan anymore either, but TNA, atleast the last time i saw it was absolutely brutal...

There's only 1 good wrestling company that all wrestling fans have been waiting there hole life for, but never watched so we all settled for this second rate stuff.

ROH is far and away the best wrestling out there. Week after week I'm blown away by the quality of there matches. It's a shame there "only" on HDNet so alot of the world never get's to see them, but there the wrestling that all wrestling fans have been waiting there whole lives for... If you can't see ROH, i guess... wwe is okay, followed by TNA... but really, they both suck, ROH.

It seems a little weird to me that an ROH fan would have so much vitriole for TNA. First of all there's a lot of ROH alums in TNA, 14 to be exact. I understand the point you were making by calling it WCW, but that's the same number as WCW alums. But even those numbers are a bit misleading because pretty much every former ROH alum is an active wrestler, many of the former WCW alums are people like Tenay, Borash, Hector Guerrerro, Raven, Mick Foley. Guys who either aren't wrestlers, are bit players, or in Foley's case more identified with WWE than WCW.

yea tna has the guys I'll give ya that. But it's the same dumb storylines and terriable matches as was seen in WCW... the alliance err nwo... give me a break... The difference with ROH to those other companies is that the wrestlers have got tons of creative freedom, the matches are 10-20 minutes with no interfernece in alot of cases. It's not the same moves, and the same matches over and over again. A guy could win with a dropkick or a rollup pin, or his finishing move. It isn't triple H doing his 3 patended moves over and over and over again. ROH has the young up and coming talent, and they've given them the creative freedom to make awesome matches, and the future matches of that company aren't pre-planned rehatched storylines so there's seldom interference, it's often one on one. I get tired of these top tier companies always setting up another angle... always having run in's... ROH is about quality wrestling, that's where it begins and ends, and thats why there far and away, the premiere company out there IMO.

I've watched a decent amount of ROH and the Angle/Styles match on January 4th is as good as any match I've seen in ROH. TNA has a handful of guys that really can't wrestle. Look at the 8 guys that were in the 8 card stud tournament, Foley is the only one of those guys that really can't wrestle.

Before TWC ditched HDNET I got to see ROH a handful of times. It was cool seeing Jerry Lynn at the top of a promotion, I loved watching that guy wrestle back in the day.
