I say, take the personal feelings/love and the money out of the equation. Just Business! I also strongly believe we are getting way ahead of ourselves, considering we are about to start only our second game having undergone some major changes from the top down.

It's a process that's gonna take some time before we see a finished product, and we aren't really even close to being done building IMO. The PF/C position is the biggest area weakness, but as for Dame and Simons co-existing remains to be seen. I would go with a 3-step process:

1st: Hope we can find a way to have both players on the court together, both as potential All-Stars, both flirting with 50/40/90 and both with high assists w/ low turnovers. I honestly hope it works, but it's a fine needle to thread.

Fallback plan: Try to convince one of the two to take the Super 6th-Man role. The two of them will know amongst themselves who the best option should be, along with Chauncey. Basically starter-like minutes for both, having one on the court at all times, but having as few minutes as possible with both of them on the court. Personally I think Dame would be the better option not to not start over the long-term, but wouldn't happen until next season. Dame starts this year... Simons picks up the torch next year.

If and only if all else fails: One of them will then need to be moved for the betterment of the team. A classy GM would have had these very discussions with Dame before that extension was offered, and all scenarios discussed freely. Wouldn't be surprised if Cronin even has a list from Dame, should things not work out. Way to early to talk trades though. Player evaluation phase is in full effect.
