This might have been the case around this time last year, but it's mind blowing that 1st is only 1.5 games ahead of 9th place. This season will really come down to which team looks the best as the season closes, you could see the 9th seed claim the 1st seed very easily if they can get a nice run going as the season concludes.
Perhaps we see the top seeds secure enough of a lead after the all-star break to cement their place as a top 4 team, but for now that is not the case. Kings have also made their case that they might be a real playoff team, with their 7 game win streak after starting the season a woeful 3-6.

It'll probably shake out a bit as the season wears on...
As with every year, injuries will largely determine which teams get to be at the top of the pile--which is sad in it's own way.
