Dame /Payton
Hart/ Nas (I think he can play 2-4)
Grant/ Winslow
Randle/ Watford?... Melo lmao...
Turner/ Eubanks

That starting line up has perimeter defense, shooting, playmaking at 4 of the 5 positions, rebounding and rim protection. The bench should be decent on defense but still lacks scoring unless we grab a journey man shooter or 2.

I really dont think that team is a contender either.

We need a Pascal level addition while not losing that much going out in win-now talent. I dont think we have the ammo to do that.

I think the ship is dead in the water and trying to patch it up isnt possible. Its lifeboat time but we have a captain (front office) that wont let the cash cow sink. We are rooting for a business as much as a basketball team and the business is intent on operating in the green, that means Dame stays to sell tickets and we keep bailing water out of the bottom of the boat while not moving.

I didn't say it was a contender but it's definitely moving in that direction, which is the direction a business would like to go in.

The bench needs big thing improvement but I think that starting line up can go up against anyone. My biggest concern would be paying to keep that core together while improving the bench. Still doesn't mean we shouldn't try though.

No team with Chauncey Billups as head coach is a contender.

Here's the problem with blowing it up...

Simons is 23 years old. Why would the Blazers get rid of him if they want to rebuild with young talent? I would imagine the Blazers will move Hart, given his contract status. I would love to move Nurkic, but who will take on his contract? Grant is not that old (26 I think), but he's a free agent so i don't know how much you can actually get for him. Everyone else is cheap or expiring. That leaves Lillard. Who can afford him and has what the Blazers want in return?

I don't know what blow it up or rebuild looks like.

Does the Blazers pick to Chicago ever lower to a 2nd Rd pick or is it always a 1st Rd pick lotto protected?

i'll say it again from my POV we need a system in place that preaches player and ball movement.
billups or any other coach (not sticking up for billups) is going to change that with this roster.
DAME,SIMONS,(CJ when he was here)GRANT,NURK dont and wont play well off the ball.
thats why imho start over and keep sharpe,hart,gp2,eubanks,winslowand gather up as many young talented players and assets for the others and get a coach that runs some form of motion offense or at least get them to play for each other, i thought billups was on that path last year in that short stint(without dame) before they shut everyone down.

I lean to moving Simons because he isnt a good fit w/ Sharpe IMO. I dont think either are even half a PG - Ant had a nice PNR run w/ Nurkic last year but thats the only consistent flash of creating with the ball that I have seen from him.

Maybe we find a way to get a F in the Ben Simmons mold and make it work creatively, but if we dont have a forward with well, well, well above average handles and creating abilities, I dont see that duo making much noise.

Maybe we luck out and get one of the Thompson twins. They are listed at 6'7 though and I bet are closer to SS height. But if they are 6'7/6'8 w/ a plus wingspan one or the other might be a nice fit to alleviate the lack of PG skills w/ Ant and SS at guard (Amen is at 7.7 assist p/ 36, Ausar at 7.1).

IDK, it might work. But Sharpe looks like a high flyer not a creator and Ant at this point is well beyond me having any hope he can be a PG, especially next to a guy like Shadeon. Ant should be playing like Seth Curry basically, but with more rim attacks. He just isnt that great outside shooting - where he is elite. Get a system that moves him off ball and he might be a #3 option caliber on a (good) PO team - in his current role, cast as a #2, its laughable.

I still want Dyson Daniels at our starting SF position. I wonder if moving guys like Hart and Keon in a 3 team deal could pry him lose. Heck I would take Dalen Terry instead at the right price.
From Portland to Reno to Vegas to LA to SLC and on to HotLanta. Winning at life. Too Blessed to be Stressed

I would love to get Siakam. I see a headline story about 3 picks and Anunoby. How many picks does Toronto want for Siakam?
