Certainly, we can all see the irony about Ant\Grant\Ayton selling tickets\keeping the team competitive? They won 21 games LY, playing these guys, fan enthusiasm was at a low. I don't think rolling them out there again is going to be the cure. The younger players playing better, that, will bring the fans back. Fans can get on board with young players and losing, because there is some hope there, right now with the vets, there is not much hope.

As for W\L record, I seriously doubt if Ant\Grant were traded tomorrow for picks and salary filler vets that POR W\L record would be much\any? worse. Which should tell you all you need to know about the value Ant\Grant bring to this team.

I think its a combo of both the managment wanting to field something that is competitive to ensure revenue while also finding that league wide these 3 guys are not pulling near the value that Cronin and Co. expected / hoped for.

Maybe he really does not want to trade them? Unless something amazing comes up? Despite pleas from you and your friends, maybe burn down the office? Send an email? Crank calls? That's what people who live in Portland do :-)

There you go. Right now, there just isn't a market for these players that will yield material assets for a rebuild.

This team (as it is currently constructed) is going to be a 20 something win team anyway (Las Vegas is rarely wrong on this), so they can just let the contracts expire or restructure the contracts to be declining over time or try to move one of the players at the trade deadline.

Doing nothing is better than doing something rash and unhelpful.
