Schonz will forever be the GOAT, but Wheels deserves praise as a great play by play man
Also, such a nice\gracious individual

Hard to top the schonz no doubt but wheeler had a unique and special style. He blew this current bunch out of the water in my eyes and I'd personally put him 2nd best radio broadcaster after the schonz which is no small praise. Always energetic and made you feel the emotion of the game in a way few can do in the booth. Listening to him as a broadcaster felt like drinking beers with a friend, and hearing him yell at the refs every once in awhile was outright hilarious.
Rest in peace Wheels, you had a unique fun style as an announcer and you will be missed in Portland

for old-timers like me he was never going to replace or match Schonley. But he came closer that I would have guessed

I met Brian about 10 years ago and had a short conversation with him. Very nice man.

Re: Brian Wheeler passes away
I listened to both, and believe it or not? I enjoyed his calls more than Schonley…and that is saying A LOT.
RIP to one of the best to ever do it.
