Ducks
Man, this game sucks!!! The Ducks can't do much right. It sucks that Chip Kelly is running the Buckeyes offense and these frigging clowns calling the game should be taken out back and put down. My God, I never appreciated professional commentators as much as I do watching this game. They're making a crappy game even crappie.

Re: Ducks
Oregon will be back id imagine but a lot of that hinges on qb play next season
It kind of sucks, feels like ohio state will always be back and oregon maybe had their once every 2-4 years shot at a cfp and blew it and didn't even go down swinging. They looked like a jody allen run program to be frank

Re: Ducks
Was a tough watch as a Duck fan, still lot to be proud of: 13-0 to finish season, big 10 champs, another great recruiting class
Nest seasons schedule is pretty favorable as well

I'm not sure if the schedule is an asset or a liability. Indeed if we beat penn state we will be OK but if we are 10-2 with a couple losses it may be hard to sneak in over a 5th sec team

Re: Ducks
CFB is however a mess with a lot of tampering to get guys to enter the transfer portal for there are
reports Texas QB Ewers has a $6 million NIL offer to transfer to another school as opposed to turning
pro.

Re: Ducks
Now you rustled my jimmies.
Oregon's program is NOTHING like a Jody Allen run organization. It is an Uncle Phil run organization. We have a third year head coach that everyone projects to be the next Kirby Smart or Nick Saban that just went 13-1, winning the Big Ten (one of two relevant conferences). Last season, we came two 3 point losses short of making the 4 team playoff. Both of which were to a team that made the Natty. And he's 38! How does any of this sound like a Jody Allen ran spots operation? Do you not watch the Blazers? Has anyone said that Chauncey Billups might be the next Phil Jackson or Greg Popovich? Do you not watch or casually follow the Seahawks? Hell, Dana Altman's NCAAB team is better run than the Blazers. Wouldn't win a game, obviously - college vs. pros. But certainly better run.
The new playoff system is totally stupid. Ducks would still be alive if they threw the conference championship and had an easier path. Having to manage signing day and transfer portal while being off for a month while planning for two potential teams to play on a neutral site - not a home game, congrats on winning. Plus, as the #1 seed, you get the favorite to win the Natty as your first game. Playoff should be 8 teams. Should start immediately after conference championships. Auto bids for P4 champs. One G6 auto bid. 3 at large bids. Championship ends in the Rose Bowl neutral site. THEN you do signing day, transfer portal, etc. The NFL has basically done this for decades. Yet, the NCAA is like, let's ignore what we know works and do something half baked.
Ducks got some good recruits. Some transfers at position of need. The players that transferred out were at positions of depth and were likely not to get much playing time - thus, their desire to transfer. Take 5* QB recruit Sagapolutele, who spent bowl practice with the team and realized he wasn't going to see the field and transferred. As unintuitive as that might seem, that is a good sign. Some solid talent returning in Boettcher, Stewart, etc. I project 10-2 regular season in 2025. Schedule looks much easier than 2024. Calling a lower seed playoff bid. But who knows? With the way the current system works, that might actually be more favorable. Play a South Carolina and BYU while letting Joejuh/tOSU/etc. slaughter themselves. THEN fall short, as I can never have nice things.
But 2026? That's our next real chance at a run. Whether it is Moore or Novosad at QB - or even Akili Smith Jr. (unlikely) who I am Shaedon Sharpe high on, there will be some experience in the QB room. Lanning will have a roster that should be nearly 100% his guys. And the Ducks have been amazing at portal acquisitions to fill needed gaps.
So, in conclusion, when Jody Allen proves she can consistently pull off top ten seasons in a 30 and 32 team league versus top ten seasons in a 132 team league, then I will concede and tip my hat. When Chauncey Billups becomes the next hot up-and-coming coach and not one that blows multiple games by over 50 points in the same season, I will tip my hat. Until then, I am dumber from having read this. But, I love talking Ducks. So no harm, no foul.
