What could have been & what will be.
The best record in the west is 31-12 And the Blazers are 26-18 that's only 6 losses from the best record in the west. I think if Oden is healthy and playing every game I say the Blazers are right there for best record. I say next year the Blazers have a great chance to get home court throughout the western playoffs.

When Oden enters the lineup, the other players will have to change a bit, and it may create some transition period where we may not do as well. Eventually, the team will come toghether, and once they have that chemistry, they will be very hard to stop, but it may take an extra year. Oden has a lot to learn, and his teammates will need to learn to play with him.

I doubt it. It'll be more like "Holy cow, we've got this guy now? God, basketball is easy!"
Where's my wild optimism thread?

Pretty much. Aldridge will also be a big factor, but I don't think it will be on the same level as Oden or Roy--at least not at the moment. With any luck, those two will be able to ensure that Aldridge consistently gets matched up against players he can abuse. At the very least he's shown that he'll make one hell of a third wheel.

Although we're only 6 games out of the top of the West, we're also currently in the 8th spot (and that's by virtue of holding the Utah tie-breaker). Houston, Utah, Golden State, and Denver are all really hot right now.
It's very believable that the Blazers can play well for the rest of the season and still find themselves on the outside looking in for the playoffs.
And the Blazers haven't exactly been crisp lately.
