Was wondering what Blazers fans thought of this deal:

Portland gets: Michael Redd
Milwaukee gets: Outlaw/filler/Blazers 2008 first

Bucks are looking to add more defense, and with having a scoring PG in Mo to break up the scoring mentality backcourt, especially given Bogut's development this year and Yi coming on.

It gives the Blazers probably the top quartet in the West for the next few years (Redd at 2, Roy at 3, Aldridge at 4, Oden at 5), and Redd would be seeing a lot of open 3's given the post ability on the team.

Roy isn't a 3. A great argument could be made for a 1 or a 2, but not a 3. Outlaw is playing great and I don't see Portland looking to move him as he's only 23 and fits in with this team perfectly. Redd is great, but he seems too one dimensional to me to be a great fit on the Blazers at this point.

If this was a real offer I think Pritchard would be all over this..I'm not sure how well Redd's defense is if he was tasked against the opposing PG though.. Roy bringing up the ball with Redd at shooting guard is a lethal combo. I don't see how milwaukee would do this deal- their owner probably knows they need to feature some key guy to draw people. Outlaw isn't a star draw and Yi isn't yet, so from that perspective I don't see how they do it.

I think all trades should be put away until we get Rudy over here, unless it's for a top notch PG that fits the team.

as much as i like redd i don't think i would agree to a deal like this.

and i'm not saying it's fair or not, but this simply doesn't makes the team better.

Ah, I just read up on some recent happenings with Redd and it sounds like he's getting upset if he's not "the man". So no way would this be a good move

Redd is too slow footed to even guard most of the league's SG's...
Fair offer, but Redd is not the best fit for us and I'd hate to give away Outlaw and even our pick.

I think if Bucks are willing to part with Redd and take Miles to help swallow his contract there is some possibilities. The key is the only way Blazers can swallow Redd's contract is if Miles is in the deal. The other problem as has been pointed out, Blazers don't want to trade Outlaw but we have to give something to get Redd. Also, Outlaw is a full base year player so a trade involving him is difficult.

I agree that that would be more fair in terms of value but I don't see how either team even goes for this. Redd is Milwaukee's leading scorer and a dead eye shooter, and regardless of his defensive insuffiencies, he's definitely been a key factor in any success that they've had in the past 4-5 seasons. For the Blazers, Outlaw fits better with our long-term plans and unless the Blazers were planning on making a future deal of Redd for our much-needed PG, I doubt pritchard trades for a 28 year old that will be on his decline by the time this team's competing for a title. Also, including Blake would leave us with nothing at PG besides Roy and if Roy went down, I'd hate to see Ivey or Jack play PG for an entire game. The Blazers would have to part with this kind of value to acquire Redd but I say no.

Roy is an excellent PG and Jack, Sergio, and Green are more than adequate reserves. Ivy can also play some PG. Blazers would have 5 guards capable of handling PG duties. We would be giving up a promising young PF/SF, but would get a great complimentary player in Redd. This trade would be expensive because of Redd's contract but would substantially improve the team and including Miles offsets most of the damage done to the summer of 2009 plans. This consolidation is necessary for the Blazers to take the next step with this team.

The Bucks fan wants Outlaw, which I can understand. Of course, we would like to substitute Webster.
