I guess Pritchard called him before it was announced,
Pritchard went on to say 'im sorry Brandon, I hear you
didnt make the team, im sorry man.' Then Roy went on
to say, 'im a little disapointed but thats ok, maybe next
year I can get on the team.' Pritchard then said.. .

I think a lot of people are underestimating the talent of B.D. here. Mad props to Roy, he deserves recognition for his accomplishments this year in our team's turnaround, but surely people saw last years playoffs with GS against Dallas, or even this year! There aren't many players more explosiveness or talented than Baron.

Sorry to be such a downer Blazer fan, but I gotta be realistic here. Let's not forget that the other considerations for the ASG were just as deserving.

Agree with Wizen, Roy is on the receiving end of quite a few benefits (good-guy image, NBA's need for good representation, feel-good team of the year, etc.) but dude deserved it.

Here's to hoping that we grab DH and Bass this weekend!

NBA coaches beg to differ.

We Blazers fans already knew we had an all-star guard but now it is official.

If you watched the game you'll understand what I mean. Roy was clearly overmatched by Lebron's strength and size. Of course, just a few days before that he schooled Kobe for the first time, so yeah, examining Lebron to Roy isn't a fair comparison. Still though, it's smart to realize that while Roy is a sensational player, he still isn't on the level of being Kobe-esque. He is not one of the elite - many don't think he ever will be bc of his 'good at everything but not great at one thing' description - but we'll wait and see.

Bah, Roy will never be and should never be Kobe-esque. They are completely different types of players. Kobe is the best himself, while Roy makes his entire team the best.

Roy will never be able to guard Lebron the way the he is best guarded by other players such as Marion, they are of very different builds.

First, the campaign for any of the PG's being more worthy can be stopped with that Roy is a SG. As for the shooting guards, Manu and Howard are good, but neither would have taken the Blazers to as many wins this year as Roy has.

Voting is based off of G, F and C though.

Baron v. Roy

In addition to the feel good ect. reasons the coaches voted him in for I think you have to look at the way Roy plays the game. Coaches want their players to play the way Brandon Roy plays the game, they don't necessarily like Baron's attitude or play style with some of the crazy stuff he does and random long threes (which is isn't good at). In particular, how he uses his body, which many might say is to often illegal in reference to offensive fouling.

Baron is a better player talent/skill wise. Im sticking
to that. I think Roy can become better down the line.

But the key thing here which was already hit on,
coaches vote the player on which explains why
Roy was picked over Baron.. .

Dont get me wrong tho, Roy deserves the
spot on the team. The kid is the real deal.

I loved how how the game after he was
named a All-Star he pulls a triple double!!

Any player selected to both squads will be eligible to play in both games, but Roy indicated after Wednesday's loss to the Cavaliers that he would skip the rookie game if he was selected as an All-Star reserve.

I thought Roy had to play in both games?

I believe that's still the case. Roy may have not known that he can't skip out on the Rookie v Sophomore game when that article was written.

I wouldn't worry about it though, I'd be shocked if Roy played more than 15 minutes in the game. Even 10 minutes would be surprising.
