I'd love to see Paul and Roy playing together every night...

It was really nice to see Roy play so well. He was clearly deserving and played well, but I couldn't get over the feeling that he looked a little tentative at times (the 'am I really here?' look) anyone else feel that?

Now we just need to get him and Paul voted to start next year!

Rasheed shot those 2 three's (maybe more?) left handed. Was that a jab at Kobe? Like ' Hey man, why are you sittin'? Just shoot with the other hand!'

that's why i love sheed and i dont know why anyone can hate him.
he doesnt care about stats and individual performance. he just wants to win.
in other words, he is the opposite of carmelo anthony and kobe bryant

*Howard is scary.
*Melo is selfish.
*Iverson wasnt selfish.
*Ray is still probably the best shooter in the NBA.
*Wallace proved why he shouldnt be a All-Star.
*Kidd can still put on a show.

Your right Carmelo is horribly selfish, and Iverson is SO unselfish that he was constantly giving it to the east. I think he had something like 10 'assists' to LeBron in the first quarter alone. That guy was horrible all night, couldn't hold onto the ball or pass it to anyone but an eastern player all night.

Anybody want to mine the General NBA board All-Star game thread for fan reaction around the league? I don't want to read that many pages of a thread, but I'm curious to know if Roy's earned some fan votes for next year.

well, i think roy during the all-star weekend prooved his worth and what he's capable of (and just in his 2nd year).

i'm really glad for the blazers and for roy, i hope he comes back motivated to score 30pts for the rest of the season...

From what I gathered, some people were impressed, but a majority of them were still pretty bitter about Roy getting in over Baron Davis, so I don't know if the General Board's ASG Thread is the best place to get a pulse on if he can get some fan votes next year.

My gut feeling is that we'll probably see him in the Top 10 next season with how good of a showing he had, but he won't get anywhere near enough to be voted in as a starter. As long as Kobe still has a hand to shoot with, he's always going to be a lock for a starting guard spot. Then, unfortunately, TMac has an entire country voting for him because of Yao, so assuming he hasn't missed the entire season, he's almost always a lock as well. Then you got Melo, AI is a huge name, Kidd will be in the West next season, Nash will still be around, Paul will just continue to get better, Davis should still be putting up big numbers in GS... So on and so forth.

Until the Blazers are winning championships, Roy won't get voted in by the fans. Thankfully, coaches love him because of his attitude and playing style, so assuming he continues to improve upon what he's done this season and the team continues to win, I'd say he's got a good chance at making more games as a reserve.

I didn't read anything on the General board but here is what I think about Roy's all-star chances next year. He was lucky to make it this year and will need a little luck to make it next year as well. Oden is a lock to make it his rookie year and if the Blazers are winning at least 60% of their games, Roy will have a chance to make it also. Roy's chances are more certain if Blazers are winning in the ballpark of 70% of their games. The standard for Blazers getting 2 all-stars is historically very high. I'm optimistic Roy will make it next year but Blazers have to play well because people will remember he got in this year and others that didn't were just as deserving.
