Pro Mikes, jinxing the free throws. Guess making fun of Zach was a bad idea to do coming out of the time out, Rice. Very professional.

Good game guys. Nothing can cure what ails ya better than facing the Clips. It was the Blazers game to lose. The Clips made a decent comeback in the 2nd, were given the chance to win (Blazers missed free-throws), but were not able to take the game over. Congrats on the win. Good luck with the rest of the season.

soooo.... well, a win is a win, i saw the stats of halftime yesterday night, the blazers were up by 42-29 and i thought, this game is waaaaaaaaay under control.

then i saw this morning a win by 2pts. and i was really scared of the thought that the blazers could have lost the game.

and then i see the boxscore and can't say im dissappointed with aldridge, but seeing the players he faced he really didn't have any real threats in fron of him.

but then i saw von waffer's stats and i have to say i'm impressed. how did he look? like he has future or not?

Ugly win... but at least we can say it was a win. I didn't get to see the game after about the 5 minute mark of the 3rd because of a cold that I'm coming down with. But at that point it wasn't looking like I'd miss much.

I'm beginning to wonder if Portland should just look at running Roy at point with Martell/Outlaw/Aldridge/Przybilla for the rest of the year. I think it would at least be a fun experiment. I don't think Martell has the handles to help Roy with the ball handling, but the rebounding is vastly improved.

Another benefit would be that Frye would get to play more of a true PF spot for more time. Raef could come in and spell Przybilla for spurts, and Frye could move to center if necessary.

I thought Wafer was surprisingly effective. He has some guts and at least stayed after it for rebounds and defense.

Martell I think impressed me the most. He looked to get to the rim time and again. As he learns to take a hit and finish stronger he could be a beast if he keeps it up.

In all, I hope McMillan is willing to give Martell more iso's with the intent to get him to the hoop, and I hope he's more willing to go with a similar lineup + Roy for a few games to at least see if there is something to it.

what was interesting about martell's game last night: he's often been compared to Michael Finley as the type of 'game' he has. The shooting stroke, being 6'7 and athletic.

But maybe he can be more of a Maggette then a Finley type of player and it was interesting to see them on the floor at the same time.

If Martell can become more effective at dribble penetration and slashing like Maggette then his shooting % will improve and it will probably mean an elevation in his 3pt % as well. It will also mean he's capable of playing SG.

I wouldn't mind seeing Roy sit out 2 or 3 more games to see Travis get more burn at SF and Martell and Von more burn at SG

I would like to see a lineup of Roy, LMA, Outlaw, Jack, and Przybilla. I like Jones, Wafer, Blake, and Frye coming off the bench. Jones, Wafer, and Frye should provide plenty of offense when the starters are out. The argument for bringing Outlaw off the bench is the team needs his offense when the starters rest but if Jones is healthy and with the addition of Wafer, I don't think that is a valid concern.

The changes are moving Roy to PG, an idea many people seem to like, and inserting Outlaw and Jack into the starting lineup. Outlaw and Jack already see extended minutes in 4th quarter but starting them would help the team at the beginning of games. Also, Outlaw should start getting substantial time at SF resulting in displacing Webster from the rotation. This should also give Joel a little more time at center and Frye more time at PF. Blake and Jacks time should stay about the same and I view them as interchangeable.
