Blockbuster Trade Idea
It certainly makes the Blazers better now, but is that best for the team?
Successful Trade ID #4540077
New Jersey trades:
Vince Carter
Richard Jefferson
Portland trades:
Raef LaFrentz
Martell Webster
James Jones
Channing Frye
Jarrett Jack
Draft Pick(s) - I dunno what type of picks so fill in the blank!
New Jersey gives up talent for cap space. They don't have a great team after the trade, but they have some young players they could build around and would have an incredible amount of cap space available. Basically, Hassell would be the only player under contract and that's only if he picks up his player option. They would have team options on S Williams, M Williams, Boone, Ager and qualifying options for Webster, Frye, Jack.
PG Harris/Armstrong/Williams
SG Hassell/Jack/Ager
SF Webster/Jones/Van Horn
PF Swift/Boone/Frye/Williams/Nachbar
_C Krstic/Diop/LaFrentz
..... Gotta cut 2 players immediately.
Portland gives up any cap space plans they had for the summer of 2009, but now has a pretty explosive roster:
PG Roy/Blake/Sergio
SG Carter/Fernandez
SF Jefferson/McRobertz
PF Aldridge/Outlaw
_C Oden/Przybilla
..... They could use another SF, but with Roy, Carter, Jefferson, and Outlaw, they should be able to handle the backup minutes just fine. They could bring Freeland over to shore up the backup PF/C positions, as well.
Roy, Carter, Fernandez, Jefferson, Aldridge, Outlaw, and Oden give the Blazers one helluva core group of players and the lineup possibilities are endless.
Now, the real question:
Do the Blazers do this?
Do the Nets do this?
