It happens every year, a player or two get
hyped up from good play torwards the end
of the season or from march madness.. .
A fair example is Tyrus. Now Tyrus does
have a chance to become a good role player
but he shouldnt of been drafted so highly.. .
However im glad the Bulls thought so!!!!!!!!

Now this isnt to say Westbrook wont turn
out to be a good player, its just risky to
take a player that hasnt shown over a
long period of time that hes good.. .

I think DeAndre Jordan is the guy!
I know it's not easy to give up Outlaw, but I would propose:

Outlaw + #13(Mayo? or Hibbert?) + '09 First Rounder to New York for #6 (DeAndre Jordan)

Jordan is very explosive, solid defensively, and they say that he will bulk up quite a bit in the next few years.

I would LOVE a three man rotation of:
Aldridge/Jordan
Oden/Jordan

That would also give us the flexibility to trade a package that could include Frye and/or Przybilla.

First of all, do you want him because part of his name is yours?

2nd, I wouldn't trade Outlaw and a 1st to move up 7 positions, Jack alone would do IMO.

3rd, if we can get Mayo at 13, I'd take that and run like a b!tch all the way to the title.

Lastly, I like that rotation too, but I don't think Jordan will come out this draft anyways.

I laughed really hard at your avatar but I wouldn't want Jordan. He's nice, but Hibbert can do all the things Jordan can NOW at a lower cost, and it won't be a problem that Oden's blocking his way.

If you noticed I put 1930s slang words.
Trigger man does not mean jump shooter.
It means a hired gun, IE: someone thru
FA or thru a trade.. .Good LORD man,
get to know your slang words, geeze!!

p.s. I got the 1930's thing but I assumed that in the context of basketball triggerman referred to a jumpshooter. Grape Nuts are neither grapes nor nuts. Discuss.

I really don't know about Westbrook. He's a very explosive player, but I think he's being way overrated as of late. I guess we'll see!

No disrespect but if you think Jack can move us up 7 positions you are in serious denial of how lousy and low his value is! Not a chance in Hades of that happening! Lets be "real".

My top 5
Westbrook
Gordon
Mayo
Bayless
Rose

Those are in order and also in terms of reality. Gordon would be #1, but I'm not sure we should move up when Mayo or Russell could be available. I think Rose may be a tad overrated. Another year at Memphis would do wonders for him. As long as we get a mate in the backcourt for Roy, I'm good.

I agree that giving up Outlaw is a bit harsh, but I included him because I didn't think that Jack would be enough to move up 7 spots.
Also, the more I think about it, if Mayo is available at our pick we should just take him and run.
And YES, I actually do want him on the Blazers because we partially share the first name! Haha! but seriously

I think it's more likely Westbrook will not be in this year's draft.

It's his first year starting and like Collison last year, he will end
up coming back to team with HS superstar guard Jrue Holiday
who will probably be a top 5 pick in the 2009 draft. If we draft
anyone from the UCLA roster it will be Collison.

If I were Portland, I would move anyone roster other than
Oden, Roy or LA to be in position to get a solid PG. KP might
be kicking himself tonight after Devon Harris had a big first
game with NJ. We don't have a playoff caliber PG on the
roster for Roy is a combo guard.

I have this theory that the most important ability for a player to have is being able to successfully shoot the basketball. If that criteria is fulfilled you can go down the list to other necessary attributes like athleticism, rebounding ability, defence, basketball IQ, character.

Westbrook passes the first test. He can shoot the ball. He isn't going to win any 3pt shooting titles in the near future but has nice form and elevation and connects at a decent rate. Going down the list he looks good. He would seem to be a solid pick at 8-13. He fits a need, is good now, a decent human being and has lots of room to improve.

DeAndre Jordan, on the other hand, can't shoot. 41.9% from the line tells me all I need to know about the guy. Name the last center coming out of the NCAA who didn't put up solid numbers who turned into anything but a bench warmer in the NBA. I can't think of a single guy in recent history. Jordan sucks now and in all liklyhood will suck even more in the NBA.

I don't know about that, his numbers are nearly identical to Aldridge's freshman numbers (about 9 pts & 6 rbs in 22 mpg). And there are tons of centers who shoot in the 40's and 50's from the line (Shaq, Big Ben, Tyson Chandler, Wilt Chamberlain, Dwight Howard, Andrew Bogut, etc.). Plus he shoots 63% from the field.
There's always a chance that a player won't turn out, but I have little doubt that Jordan is gonna be pretty solid.

Mayo will be top #7. Especially after
last nights game against Bayless.. .

I still think Westbrook is more hype
then anything right now, but I do like
his speed & hes not bad at defense.. .
Those are two things that can keep
you on the court in the NBA.. .
