The problem is that the Clips have a lot of forwards already. TThomas, Al Thornton, Ross, Etc. I think this might be a better three way option.
Also, cruising the Clippers board, they don't seem all that attached to Maggette. I don't know if he's a great fit for the Blazers, but the Clippers are an interesting idea.
I'd trade anyone with the Blazers not named Oden, LA and Roy
for the rights to OJ Mayo. I think he would give us a player like Gilbert Arenas which is a guy who is a constant threat to score 30 points on a given night. If we had to trade Outlaw, Rudi, Martell or whoever, adding an OJ Mayo along with a returning Oden will make us overnight into a 50+ win team, even in the western conference.

I don't know where you've heard that, but everything I've read about his defense has been EXTREMELY positive. He's been a great defender in college and shut down some of the nations top PG's.

I was basing my statement off of the analysis on the mock lottery draft mini-analysis, which states that he has turned in some "less than inspiring performances on the defensive end." However, looking at the website that is linked to on the Westbrook thread, I found this:
The silver lining from this season has to do with Mayo

Mayo's defense has been a huge plus this season. A lot of that comes from the Memphis v. USC game where he really took Rose out of the game with his excellent defense. In short, when he is focused he can be an excellent defender.
I really just can't see Mayo slipping all that far in this year's draft. He's been playing well and I think much improved from the beginning of the year. His team is also playing well right now, if they make a splash in the tournament his stock is going to go crazy. I also think he'll do really well in workouts when he gets a chance to go one on one against Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon, and Jerryd Bayless.
Then again there is the silly statement he made yesterday about how he's going back to school...riiiiiiggghhhhtttt...

I agree. I think Mayo's early reputation as a trouble maker caused him to slip initially, but I think he'll end up going in the top 10 easily, probably a little higher than that.
I think the Blazers will be better of shooting for a veteran PG. However, its tough to argue with the success that young PG's like Deron Williams and Chris Paul have had.

I don't even know if we need to get into the top 10.
Look at how this draft class is shaping up. Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, DeAndre Jordan and Brook Lopez are top-5 picks. Donte Greene of Syracuse is a top-10 pick. Jerryd Bayless, Eric Gordon, and now Russell Westbrook are all top-10 picks.
This leaves guys like Darren Collison, Ty Lawson and DJ Augustin, who are good college players that I believe will translate pretty well into the pro game. Those three will all go outside the top-10 and Portland doesn't have to bother with a trade.
As of right now, any differences between a Bayless and a Lawson are pretty relative and will not be settled until a) college prospects start to declare for the draft and b) postseason workouts are conducted.

Are You (Please Use More Appropriate Word)? Why dont you start reading stuff before you post? Mayo has had so few incidents during his time in college. Just read what his coach says about him:
He's the most misrepresented, misportrayed athlete I've seen coming into college. He's been very dependable and accountable. He's a great kid -- I wish him the best whatever happens.

I totally think Mayo would fit great next to Roy, with his excellent shooting and tough defense. He will only continue to improve, and despite his reputation, he has had very few incidents. Essentially none during his year at college.

Dude, did you just call yourself (Please Use More Appropriate Word)?
I was about tell you to not attack people like this, but um... I've never seen someone try and start a fight with themselves before.
You also get double points for the ironic quote of you telling yourself... "Why dont you start reading stuff before you post?"

Just kind of making fun of myself after realizing that my assumptions were wrong. Even though I think the thought about Mayo's attitude is a pretty widely held (albeit incorrect, according to his coach) opinion of him. I guess Mayo brings the two things that I want most in a back court mate for Roy: shooting and defense, plus he seems to have more upside as a bonus.

Its dumb to draft anyone below the top #5 (unless Mayo drops).
The Blazers will get around the 12th-14th pick most likely and
there are no impact players around there. Blazers do not need
any more young guys that will most likely be no better then
good role/bench players. Trade up or trade for a proven guy.
If Pritchard cant do that then he'll have his first bad lotto night.

yeah...even though I write 'LOL" occasionally, I rarely have more then a chuckle, but seeing UGotThrilled being drilled by UGotThrilled was a true LOL.
Tell me Spykes...if he keeps insulting himself will he get suspended?

moving up to top 5 would be impossible unless we include one of the big 3. but from #6 onwards, i don't think it's that hard, we have got the right pieces to do so if KP is willing to pull the trigger. lafrentz's contract, outlaw, martell, jack, frye, our own first rounder or even taking some bad contracts.
