2 reasons

1: He hasn't been shooting well latently, and Travis is mainly in there to score. He is often subbed in when Roy leaves the game and relayed on to carry the offense. If he isn't doing that there isnt much point of having him in.

1: The blazers other wings have been playing well lately. Jones has come back from injury and his outside shooting plus savvy plays are big for the blazers. Webster has also had some very solid game lately but more its been his rebounding and defensive plays that have gotten him more PT.

Overall I don't think you can take much from it other then a case of hot and cold streaks most NBA players fall into.

He's just had a shooting slump. I fully expect his minutes to increase once he can start hitting his shots.

Also the Blazers have been more defense focused. Travis plays at the 4 and the common theory is that when he's in there we're under-sized/muscled and our defense suffers.

Nate has been going with bigger lineups playing Joel Przybilla and Channing Frye more and Travis less.

So do this suggest that if the KP did consider trading him next year that the Blazers wouldn't spiral into the bottom of the standings?

well, i think we all know what outlaw can do and will do.

i think nate is looking at what other players (frye, martell) can do and if they are indeed needed or not in the main rotation and hence in the team.

just my humble opinion...

Well, I was going to say the reason is Travis
is in a slump so Nate wasnt playing him due
to that, however that would mean Jack would
be sitting aswell & we all know thats not the
case. So I guess the reason is Nate doesnt
want to play him at SF. Outlaw usually plays
the PF but with Przy finally being played in
the 4th that moves LMA to the PF and that
pushes Travis to the SF spot which is where
the Blazers more times then not have their
shooter. IE: James & Webster.. .

I think thats true, even if it is ironic.

travis minutes

When he is in, he's forcing shots, making bad decisions. He had a great streak, but he's let it go to his head, and thinks he should shoot every time he touches the ball. He has to let the game come to him.

I think he is tired. He came into camp out of shape and just trying to work his way into shape through the season is wearing him out.

What in the hell do I know about how he is feeling though. He could just be staying up to late playing NBA 2K8 like me.

I think this is an important point. Travis's IQ has never been his strong suit. While it is getting better, he is still on the shallow end of that pool. Whatever happens with his future, he needs to learn how to harness his incredible physical talents and pick his spots.

I think one of the biggest hindrances for Travis letting the game come to him is his unblockable jumper. Its so easy for him to get it off, I don't think he's focuses on his penetration enough. If he could become a true dual threat, it'd definitely make life easier for him.

well, i think MrOdd made an interesting point and it seems like the most realistic one.

that also tells us one thing, someone of webster, frye, outlaw and jones might not be here next season...

Good chance that two of those are gone.

One word: rebounding.

Look at his rebounding numbers when he gets 30+ minutes. Same rebounds as when he gets fifteen minutes. Until he crashes the boards, he isn't going to get minutes.
