If it's one of the centers, we don't really need to trade up. If it's any of the guards, we could snatch up a very good player by not giving up much.
I don't see the blazers trading for a better pick, though. It seems that teams often want too much for their picks. I know I would.
I don't think Portland will move up more then a spot or two using frye and jack as the 'bait' as most of the trades suggest.
What they'll have to do if they seriously want to move up 5 or 6 places is use Lafrentz's expiring to take on a bad contract and add one of Martell, Travis, or Rudy. Travis and Rudy probably have more trade value then Martell.

I agree with that, but I think if Pritchard were to trade
Travis or Rudy, he would have to have no doubt in his
mind that the player he is going to draft is a cant miss,
no risk player & we all know thats hard to get. Personally
I believe theres only two players that come close to this
in the draft & you need the 1st or 2nd pick to get them.. .
However I think Pritchard would trade Travis or Rudy
in a package like you said but for a proven NBA player.

that's probably all true.
I'm just not sure how "invested" KP is in that cap-space plan. If it's a lot, then he won't be trading Lafrentz in any event.

The more I think about it the less I think we really want a pass-first PG. I think we need another player on the wings that can generate their own offense to open up the middle for Oden and Aldridge, which means another combo player that is equally comfortable dishing or shooting would be fine as long as they can play a bit of defense on quicker PGs like Paul and Williams. So I actually think that as long as he goes along with the game plan and doesn't get it into his head that he has to score 30 ppg in order to be valuable (call it "Marbury syndrome") he could be a great compliment to Roy. I feel the same about Gordon and Bayless.
