[color=red]Portland has won more games than most people including me thought they would. However, one 17 of 18 string, mostly at home against not great competition and one good team (the Jazz) who was in the middle of a horrid streak tempers that a bit isn't tempered. Outside of that streak the Blazers are 20-33. Of course you can't take that streak away but when one of the worst teams in the league holds you to a season low (for them) in points just after you only beat the Clippers at home by 3 (w/o Kaman, Brand, Maggette, Knight and Livingston) that might be an indicator that this team has not progressed as much as their record indicates.
and then again, it might not
one great thing about an 82 game schedule is that it tends to diminish the effect of hot streaks and cold streaks. Flukes and aberrations are evened out by the sheer volume of games.
you're right...you can't simply "take out" the winning streak from the blazer equation just because it doesn't support your assertions. It's part of the schedule and it's certainly part of this season's resume'
And you might want to take a close look at the Houston winning streak. It was built on a foundation of home games and weak teams...just like portland's. Winning streaks are often built like that. Every team has those stretches in their schedule, but few put together a double digit winning streak.
