Who wants some TURKEY???

Post#1 » by BiggieSmalls » Tue Apr 1, 2008 4:10 pm

I have come to the conclusion that the blazers need to pursue hedo turkoglu, he would be a great fit for the blazers at small forward, he is a smart play maker and one of the better shooters in the league, consistantly hits 3's, and he is 6'10" which would make our frontline somewhat of a nightmare for opposing teams. They would be goin up against Oden's shaq like size, aldridge is getting bigger as the year goes on and he is a long 6'11" and hedo is a 3 shooting, do it all, 6'10" small forward. to go with roy and rudy in the backcourt would be a deadly starting five     . roy rudy and hedo would be hitting outside shots and making plays to set up aldridge and oden and the bench unit would be solid as well with blake, webster, jones, mcbob, przybilla. assuming the price for hedo would include outlaw  thats why he isnt on the bench.

i know orlando probably is goin to try to hold on to turkoglu becuz he is playing next to dwight howard which would essentially be like playing along side greg oden which is why hedo had such a good year, he was on a team that had a big man to ease up the defense on the perimeter allowing him to get open looks or drive to the hoop and create plays, which is why orlando has been putting him at the point in the 4th quarter cuz he plays like brandon roy but hes 6'10" so he's a matchup nightmare!

and hes great on my fantasy team so if we did get him i could have roy aldridge oden and hedo on my fantasy team next year!

It would if he ever actually played defense, which he doesn't. At least, he hasn't since his Sacramento days.

He also turns the ball over like Jarrett Jack, so you have to be careful about seeing too much benefit in the matchups--he would have his pocket picked at point in the West.

I also wouldn't characterize him as "playing like Brandon Roy" because he's essentially a spot up shooter while Roy uses the three to get defenses to play up on him so he can drive by them. This shows up in the stats--Hedo takes as many shots from three point range as he does close in, while Brandon shoots three times as many shots at the rim as he does from outside. That's because Brandon has handles, while Hedo does not. Ergo, their games are not even remotely like each other.

Now that said, Hedo is a very good spot-up shooter and I wouldn't mind having him cheap. That's not going to happen, though. I wouldn't give a lot to get him as he really isn't all that much better than the combination of Martell and James Jones, both of which are better defenders than Hedo.

Hedo is far more than a spot up shooter this season. He gets nearly 5 FTA per game this season, and his APG is at the same number.
That being said, I think he's too old and pricey for us. Maybe he'll use his PO next summer and if Webster will be traded by then, then Hedo's an option. But I cant see him arriving via trade.

He draws fouls at essentially the same rate per shot as Martell Webster does. As for the assists, he's always been a decent passer but being a decent passer doesn't mean he plays the game like Brandon Roy.

Hedo's value has skyrocketed this year and Orlando would be asking for A LOT for him. I'd like to see Hedu in a Blazers Jersey but Orlando would probably want a lot for him. I'm not sure the Blazers have the right pieces to trade for Hedu without giving up too little or too much to get the deal done. Interesting idea but probably unrealistic for the Blazers if the magic value Turkoglu as highly as I think they might.

Before the season started there was a rumor
of Hedo being traded to the Blazers. I was
surprised when most people didnt want
him. I thought he would of been great
with Jones and Webster. I didnt know
he would be this good this year tho.
