Knicks trade: Carmelo Anthony/Courtney Lee/Kyle Oquinn
Portland Trades: Myles Leonard/Evan Turner/Moe Harkless/Zach Collins/Nicholson
Why for Portland? You get an upgrade at 3 positions and really strengthen your bench. Oquinn is a very solid player and had a per over 20 last season iirc. Courtney Lee could play the 2/3 and Melo could play the 3/4. Could start Lee at the 2 and CJ come off the bench as a scorer.
The blazers would immediately save you guys 4 million dollars this season and Oquinn/Lee are on shorter cheaper deals then the players we are taking back. The trade could be reworked so that you guys send us Aminu and we trade you Chasson Randle and you guys could save 10 million dollars. Not sure how important Immidate cap would be for you and I would think you would want to keep Aminu.
Nurkic/Oquinn
Aminu/Davis
Melo/Lee
Cj/Lee
Dame/Napier
Or if you guys wanted to keep Turner then we drop Lee/Oquinn from the trade and we can do a simple Moe + Ed Davis + Swainigan + Vonleh or Napier + 2018 or 2019 first round draft pick for Melo.
I can see Lee and Oquinn being very valuable pieces to add to the deal and to your team. In the original deal asking for Collins may be a bit too much for you guys. But if we were to take back all those bad contracts, that's what it would have to take or multiple future draft picks + Swainigin. Could do the original deal..just replace Collins with Swainigin and add a 2018 first round draft pick and a 2020 first round draft pick. Keep Collins. Trade Swain + future picks
Im just coming up with some ideas. What would you guys be willing to trade for Carmelo? Would you want Lee and/or Oquinn as well?

I think guys that would be on the table in a NYK Melo trade would be:
Harkless
Aminu
Vonleh
Napier
Layman
Connaughton
Davis
Turner
Leonard
Nicholson is being stretched, so he's technically already gone.
At worst, Melo is still a 1 year rental so I don't see Portland giving up any of their rookies--especially since they're the only first round picks Portland has kept since CJ McCollum.
The NTC is just as painful for NY as it is a team like Portland. I imagine that getting Portland on the list won't be an easy task, and I imagine NY would be receptive to getting Portland on that list because the players above are a better combination of options than what HOU or CLE to this point are willing to offer. I would argue that you probably can't get a better package out of either unless Cleveland relents and includes Kyrie, or HOU is willing to add multiple first rounders starting in 2020+.
I don't think Portland would be opposed to taking on either or both of Lee or O'Quinn, but I would be absolutely shocked if Portland included either of Collins or Swannigan.

Portland is not going to trade Collins who is going to be a solid player in the league given time
to physically mature.

When is the last time a R1 prospect has been traded the same summer he was drafted? It just doesn't happen.
And if Melo wont waive the NTC for CLE, he isn't doing it for Portland. He is set on HOU and the Knicks should just hang on for the year until he opts out.

I'd say yes to this in a heartbeat. Even if Melo doesn't resign, we get Turner and Meyers off the books freeing up cap space and possibilities. Hate to see Collins go but worth it.
Everyone wants to live at the expense of the state. They forget that the state lives at the expense of everyone

IMO, there are a lot less options now that Crabbe has been traded away:
Harkless / Leonard / Connaughton / Pick
Harkless / Leonard / Vonleh / No pick
That is all I can see that's doable, but Melo isn't waiving his NTC for anyone but Houston, so until that changes....

Would need a pick + Vonleh. Vonleh has been a pretty big disappointment and don't view him as a positive asset worth making this trade for . Especially if im taking Leonard and his 3 years back.

In addition to Melo refusing to waive his NTC, I'm skeptical given the strength of the western
conference, we'd get out of the first round.
I'd be open to faciliating a deal to Houston if the deal got Portland under the LT threshold and
if worthwhile to Portland. Likely Portland will get under the LT line on their own by the trade
deadline so they are in no need for a salary dump.

I flat out wouldn't give a pick for Melo, but I also don't think I would make you eat Leonard - instead probably sub Davis into the equation.

Really? I think I'd rather give up a pick and Leonard, than keep the pick and give up Davis. If we gave up Ed, we'd be looking at Meyers being our backup Center, in a season where we're clearly trying to go deep into the playoffs. I'd feel a lot better about having Davis behind Nurkic, shedding Leonard, and giving up a pick in the 20's of the 1st rd.

Wiggins never played a game with the Cavs and he went 1st overall so it does happen but it is rare.

Knicks traded tim hardaway Jr for jerian grant just 3 years ago. I feel like this happens a lot unless you don't count draft day trades.

Yeah I wouldn't count draft day trades however if we did then it would be pretty common. When I was posting my response I was thinking of only lotto picks and not the full round.

I really just want this all to end. I don't see adding Melo as a huge move for us but I just want to see whether it happens or not

No idea if this guy has legit sources or not. Still hope it doesn't happen, or at least involve any future parts (Collins, Swanigan, draft picks)

Re: If Melo was willing to waive his NTC, would you guys want him in Portland??
If this happens, I'm assuming the deal is something along the lines of Harkless, Vonleh, and Leonard. If that happens, I'm ecstatic. I love Harkless, but Melo takes this team to the level of competing for the 2-3 seed.
Melo hasn't played on a team with this kind of talent in his entire career. He's never been on a team that had 2 other 20ppg scorers, and hasn't been on a team with even 1 other 20ppg scorer since he was 23 years old, and playing with a 32 year old Iverson (happened 1 other time the year before that). So he's only played 2 seasons of his career with another 20ppg scorer, and it's been almost a decade since that's happened.
A team that can take some pressure off of him, and an organization that actually has their stuff together? I think he could really re-ignite his career here. I hate getting my hopes up, but I really really want to see this happen

I was having a hard time coming up with any realistic trade scenarios when Portland had Crabbe. But with him gone, I can't see much of anything that's realistic. Melo makes way too much salary

The rumored deal with Houston, when Portland was taking Anderson, had Portland sending Harkless and Leonard, and New York was reportedly all for that. Add Vonleh to that package, and that deal works financially for Melo
Melo - 26.2 Mil
Harkless, Leonard, Vonleh - 23.6 Mil
Add Morrow and Briscoe and you're roughly 8 Million over the luxury tax (off the top of my head). I'd be willing to bet that Paul Allen would pay that for a team ready to compete
