On the other hand, Olshey really going all in on Ant as the backup PG. Interesting choice, keen to see how it plays out - and hope its not a poor decision

Re: Pau Gasol Agrees To One-Year Deal With Blazers
I like the signing, mostly because of his locker room presence and mentorship he can provide to Zach and the other bigs. Doubt he'll be that effective if he gets on the floor. Maybe he can knock down an open mid-range/3 here or there though!

I imagine Pau will see some minutes, probably around 10-15 minutes a game depending. Hopefully he still has something left in the tank.

Portland, the place where aging stars go to get a contract lol.
And wait is this the whiteside I'm thinking of? Is he like not good now? Haven't watched much Miami ball lately.

Dame, CJ, Nurk, Hassan, Gasol, Baze, Collins, GTJ, Simons, Little, Tolliver, Hood, Skal, Herzonja. It's only 14. They still have one more guaranteed spot open. Hoard as a 2way contract doesn't count against the full 15 man rotation iirc.
That said, I do suspect Portland is officially done for the summer, the roster is set.
Yep, I counted Hoard by accident. I was looking to see how many spots were left and I f'ed up.

I'd like Lin or another of the remaining veteran point guards too. Lin strikes me as the best fit, a guy who can reliably spam pick-and-roll or create his own offense as needed. He used to be a decent defender too, but that no longer seems to be the prevailing sentiment.

Lin over bringing back Bayless? Bayless was the T-Rex of point guards.

Portland is not going to like blocking Simons from meaningful PT but if Dame or CJ misses any time
in camp or is hobbled, they likely will have no choice to add a vet PG.

Is the veterans minimum for Pau the $2.6 Million as reported by ESPN?

Pau Gasol could do more to improve our playmaking than a backup PG.

I would have preferred Noah, but Gasol might still be effective enough....as long as Whiteside stays healthy. Gasol averaged 12 minutes for the Spurs last season. I doubt he'd match that in Portland and I have no clue how productive he'll be when he does play.
I imagine Olshey is hoping Gasol could fill some of the three-point void of Meyers

With us signing 2 veterans now, I really think that we could see lin or Livingston signed
Defense and rebounding wins games

Blazers will pay ~$1.6M. The NBA pays the balance to $2.6M. The cap hit is $1.6M.

Re: Pau Gasol Agrees To One-Year Deal With Blazers
I'm thinking Pau is here in the Juwan Howard role for Zach Collins.
Juwan was here in 2009-10 season and actually played in a lot of games but was hughly valued as a
elder statesman on a team that was struggling from the absenses of #1 NBA draft pick Greg Oden
and the start of the injuries from B-Roy. Pau should be a great mentor for Zach Collins who likely
has missed Ed Davis as a mentor.

On point.
Somewhere trying not to offend Texas Chuck.
