This last game, and the two before has showed me very little. It has looked similar to AAU games, which is not surprising, nor concerning to me. Stotts said that we should not put too much into what we see in the early pre-season games, so I haven't, but next game against Utah is a different story. The first half of the Jazz game should be the prequel of what's to come.

As for the players we have now, with the moves N.O. has made, I'm stoked! My only concern is Nurkic. It's a mystery to me, why we don't have any kind of timeline for his return. I really like all the players we have, 1-15, but we need Nurkic to come back soon.

Dame / Simon
CJ / Bazemore
Hood / Mario
Collins / Skal
Nurkic / Whiteside

Ok, what might happen if the unlikely happens? I don't believe that 15% number that someone from the NBA pulled out of his ass. Were talking about China. The country that steals 99% of the digital content, trademark, and intellectual property they consume. Not all NBA revenues are shared with the players. The portion of revenue shared with the players isn't going to be impacted much by the business the NBA might do with China. If there is anything to be reasonably concerned about, it would be loss of revenue growth (of the portion shared with players) and not an actual reduction in revenue.

Would the NBA smooth a reduction in projected revenue? I doubt it. I give smoothing a less than 1/10% chance of happening. In the event of a force majeure situation, the NBA would address it on the luxury tax side and not alter the calculated salary cap.

Why wouldn't an EC be *more* valuable if cap space is going down?

It's sort of moot anyways isn't it. Aren't max contracts a percentage of the cap. If the cap goes down, so does Lillard's contract I believe. Which is the real killer anyways.

What I'm saying is that there isn't a chance in hell that the NBA would drop it's salary and luxury taxes $10M+ in a single season. That's ludicrous and the owners would never approve something like that... And furthermore, the players association would fight it tooth and nail. Literally neither side would see a huge cap reduction without smoothing as a plausible solution.
