I don't think Collins plays again this year, that's a real easy injury to re-aggravate if not allowed to fully heal. In any case by the time they could bring him back, Portland will be effectively eliminated from the playoffs so what would be the point.

I think you could be right, particularly if the team continues to suck. Wasn't his timeline to return right at the end of the season? If the Blazers somehow make the playoffs, maybe he plays, but I think it really depends on where the team is at. It may also depend on what Nurkic is doing and what the Blazers get for Whiteside and Bazemore before the trade deadline. So many factors go into the decision to play Collins or not. I don't think we can quite answer that at this time, but I'm leaning in your direction Soulyss.

Hoping for both to come back may be a stretch in and of itself, let alone for both to come back strong. Nurk may come back, but I don't think we can expect a lot after sitting out a year and half the roster has changed.

No way all of those players are still on the roster come playoff time. Bazemore and/or Whiteside gotta go. Hopefully the Blazers can turn those expiring contracts into something going forward. I have no idea what that is, but I know it isn't Blake Griffin!!! Good luck with your season ending surgery... AGAIN!!! I'm torn on Kevin Love. I have never been a fan of his, but he is the type of player to fit Stott's offense. His defense kind of fits the Blazers, as well.

Watching Melo play. He sure likes to take the smaller player to the basket, which is great. However, as many times as he has tried so far since coming back into the league, I gotta wonder if he can actually dunk the ball anymore. He just doesn't seem to have much lift. How many times have we seen him snuffed at the hoop? I expect that when the guards take the ball to the basket, but I don't expect that from a power forward with decent height.

I expect Whiteside (for sure) and Bazemore (more than likely) to be gone at the deadline... it could be for a long term player to pair with the core, but don't be surprised if Neil doesn't find the deal he likes and trades Whiteside and or Bazemore for an player in the same salary range who expires next year.

If the SAS decide to fully hit the red button.. Basemore, Whiteside, Mario, Toliver, 2020 1st (Protections: Top 10, Top 10, 2-2nds) for LMA and Derozen... Gives Neil two useful players on expiring contracts next year to see if we have better luck with health.

I think he can dunk from a runnning jump, but I think his ability to stand flat-footed and power up with a dunk is gone.

I think Whiteside + 1st for Covington and Dieng would be interesting. Then maybe Bazemore for Batum. Gives defensive versatility, and a decent SF playmaker.

They'd have a team of:
Lillard/Simons
CJ/Hood
Covington/Batum/Little
Collins/Dieng
Nurkic/Skal?/Brown?

The only way either Whiteside or Bazemore is traded is if something amazing is coming in return. So, if it happens it won't be bad news. More likely, Whiteside and Bazemore will remain Blazers and that is also good news. Any changes will likely be buyout pickups.

Yuk, and triple yuk. We were right to get rid of Batum when he was a better player on a better contract. Now he is not even good and is owed $27M next season. His awful contract would cost us a $10M MLE player and a $3.8M BAE player.

Whiteside and Bazemore will remain Blazers and that is also good news.

I guarantee that neither will be Blazers next season. And that's great news.

Are you guaranteeing they are going to be traded? Or, are you guaranteeing their contracts will expire and we will replace both of them with cap room? I guarantee you the later isn't going happen. Unless, you are planning on also renouncing Skal, and replacing Whiteside, Bazemore, Skal, and Anthony with $14M in cap room. We only have cap room if we renounce Skal, otherwise we have more cap room by being over the cap and retaining the MLE and BAE. Actually, we have almost as much cap room with the MLE + BAE as the $14M that would be created by renouncing everyone including Whiteside, Bazemore, Skal, and Anthony.
