another very nice game from Keon, these minutes/games played because of the tank are very valuable, and what a successful tank it has been!

I see these games as a combination of auditions and practice for our bench next season. Eubanks, Brandon and Watford have played their way into the team next season.

If Johnson can eventually get his offense at least to the level of Josh hart we might have actually won the norm trade. That’s a big if but he definitely looks like more than a toss in in that trade. And certainly a nice asset moving forward on a value rookie contract.

Eubanks and watford should stay. Watford especially seems like a workhorse, eubanks can be a decent 8th man type. Brandon is kind of meh, his shooting percentages are awful and guards like him are a dime a dozen. And he seems ball dominant and not talanted enough to warrant such a role. Honestly i’d prefer him gone and feel we can pretty consistently sign a decent enough backup pg in the off season to where we don’t really need him

I had a feeling that was a guy that the Blazers GM liked quite a bit, sure this trade might have partly been done as a bit of a favor to Balmer. Keon I think was meant to be the "center piece" though kid is still very young and has a lot of talent.

If Keon becomes an all-star though I think most will look back at this trade and think the Clippers gave up on him too soon. Keep in mind currently Keon can't even legally walk into a bar and order a drink, we all remember what Simons looked like at age 20 and how much better he looked 2 years later.

I also like that he has the height to pair well with Anfernee, 6'5" is a very impressive size for a SG that means he could potentially do more defensively.

that could be the case, but I'm kind of skeptical that's true. The Clippers had to add a 2M+/- salary to the deal to make it legal and Johnson was the only realistic salary they had. They were not going to add Batum, Mann, or Hartenstein. They had no other matching salaries

this is how these bigger trades with lots of salary usually work. They is very often a smaller filler player included and many of those times it's a younger seldom-used player. The team that gets him hopes he blossoms; the team that traded him hopes he doesn't, mostly, but doesn't sweat it. And if he doesn't blossom, he's quickly forgotten as being part of the trade...much like a 2nd round pick

I'll give Cronin credit for doing a decent job of dismantling the olshey-roster and digging quite a ways out of the olshey-payroll hole. I'm not ready to give him credit for being an astute trader or a sharp evaluator of talent. There is too much 'evidence' arguing against those things right now

I've been afraid of Cronin and Detroit having a handshake deal that sends a 2022 pick + either the Bledsoe
contract or the CJ TPE for Grant.

It would be frustrating if the NO pick did not convey and it ended up being the sixth pick in the draft that
got sent out which would be shades of the Gerald Wallace deal in reverse. One hope Portland isn't stupid
enough to make that trade.

If a handshake deal was made, it surely would have had to have recognition of where the Draft pick landed.

I'd like to think Cronin didn't say "we'll trade you the New Orleans pick, and if we don't get that, we'll trade our pick regardless of where it lands".
