We picked Davis, and then with New Jersey's at 5 we picked Beal.

That would be awesome! Send an email to Buchanan and ask to come along to New York as a good luck charm at the lottery draw.

I keep reading this Gerald Wallace to Orlando suggestion.

1. What makes you believe that Orlando would want Gerald Wallace? Sure, they get some prospects but what would they need Wallace for? They'll be rebuilding.

2. What makes you believe that Gerald Wallace would want to play for Orlando? If he was traded prior to the date he has to decide to opt-in on his contract then surely he would bolt and that would lessen the trade value they got in return dramatically.

I just don't see that trade happening.

D-Will will bolt to Dallas. I'm about 90% sure of this.

I think Dallas too, especially if Dwight is staying in Orlando.

Everything Deron has said has been about winning first and foremost. The chance to team with a superstar PF should be quite attractive after tanking with the Nets for a season and a half.

New Jersey would be great for a superstar who wants to build their own legacy from the ground up, but it is going to be a hell hole for anyone wanting to win right now.

I said this to a New Jersey fan on the T&T board and boy was he not happy with me.

I'd much rather land this pick in this draft than future drafts. Its too rare to get this kind of talent in the top 10 and I'd like to capitalize on it.

I definitely want them to get the Nets pick this year.....mostly because I think opportunity to have two top 10 picks in a deep draft gives the blazers the foundation to put together a great trade package for an allstar caliber guard.

I kind of like the look of the 2013 class a little better.

More real PG's. Portland is set for the SF/PF positions at the moment, which is the strength of the current draft. Maybe the talent is better (I am unconvinced), but we're more likely to get a young guard in 2013.

There are also some centers that look more promising than the centers of this draft, but at this point it's hard to tell which is stronger.

I haven't checked out the 2013 draft, but I think Chad Ford said that "If you thought 2012 was weak at PG, just wait until you see 2013."

Also, DeBlazerRiddem, I'm not sure what you mean by "real PG", but I don't think you'll find a purer PG than Kendall Marshall if you waited for years.

I hope we don't miss out on Kendall Marshall if he declares. He could be the perfect fit for our team depending on who our next head coach is.

No guarantee that NJ will suck next year (likely yes but it was likely that Portland wouldn't be a lottery team at the beginning of this year) so I would rather not have to go through a whole season of watching them in teh standings.

Luck just needs to shine on us and have their pick be 4 or 5 after the lottery and then we can trade for our star guard. Get Eric Gordon or Rondo or someone of similar caliber. Well unless we luck out and get the #1 pick....then keep it and take Davis.

Ryan Harrow, 5-11, score first PG.
Myck Kabongo, 6-2, athletic, pass first, but can't shoot and has bad decision making.
Marquis Teague, 6-2, athletic, pass first, can't run a halfcourt offense, makes bad decisions.

Good talents, no doubt, but I prefer Marshall over all of them.

There are two options, get a SG/SF with the first pick, Barnes or MKG, and a PF/C with second pick, T-Jones, Zeller, Leonard (Henson should be gone), or take the risk, grab Drummond with the Nets pick, and Jeremy Lamb with the other one.

The PG should come from FA, best option Deron, realistic one, DJ Augustin.

if the blazers do land the nets pick, i don't believe they should bundle two lottery picks in a trade for a vet. i wouldn't be categorically opposed but i don't think its a realistically smart move. the type of available stars worth such a package would likely veto a trade to portland or be unwilling to sign an extension.

i think the blazers should draft BPA regardless the need at both spots. right now, with out taking into account the lottery re-ordering the nets and bazars sit at 4th and 10th respectively. the nets likely won't move much and the blazers will likely drop a few more spots as they plummet from contention. of course, standings and prospect values will change but, at the moment, i'd like to see the blazers nab Beal (an NBA ready prospect at the 2) and then whichever of Drummond and Sullinger are available next (preferably but less likely Drummond) to pair w/ aldridge and let LA play primarily the 4. next, i would like to see the blazers center a package around 'matthews/late picks/cash/taking back a negative contract' to grab another lower lottery pick and nab Marshall to be our PG. extend batum and make a run at asik and pick up veteran back up PG and the there it is...

Raptors lost tonight to move into a tie with the Nets. But it looks like the tie will be short lived as the Nets are currently down by 10 to the Wizards a little over mid-way through the 4th.

NJ is in full tank mode, losing by 16 to the lowly Wizards. Something has to give later
this week when the Bobcats visit the Nets.

Not to be outdone are our own Portland Trailblazers. Currently sitting at 10th in the lotto hunt. Tied in the loss column with #9, Golden State (winning their game tonight), and only 1 game behind Cleveland in the loss column. If Portland sucks hard enough over the next week or so they could move into the 8th spot.

3 rookie starters, Aldridge and Batum. That makes no sense at all to me, and in that situation, you might as well move Aldridge. You worry about someone else not wanting to extend here, and then you're going to tell your best player hey, sit tight while we waste your prime by starting 3! rookies next to you. I just don't see that happening AT ALL. So you might as well see if you can nab the #1 for Aldridge, and start 4! rookies. And then we can all sit around and talk about how we have a team of 20 year olds so dominant, that will all grow and mature together, and we'll see if it will work a second time. But soon, one of them will fetch a lotto pick, and we might as well, lest we be accused of waiting to long to move one of them.

It's not the win column but the loss column for teams tanking can always lose games.

Portland with 21 wins is two games behind GS for the ninth spot in the lottery.
Charlotte with 7 wins has a death grip on the first spot and will have a 25%
chance at winning the lottery and Anthony Davis. There is logjam of teams
with 15-17 wins but I think Portland can catch Sacramento, GS and Detroit
to finish 7th. The last time we had the 7 hole, we won the lottery.
