I generally enjoy your posts, but I don’t sense the requisite sarcasm to understand this one at all. I made the argument that with a possible Nurk/Whiteside overlap that Tolliver could be valuable in brief stretches. I’ve watched all the preseason games and regular season games at least twice and I can tell you he most certainly won’t be fine with the starters.

Reading i usually takes 6 weeks to 3 months to return to strenous activity after a dislocated shoulder.

When is Gasol coming back?

I typically dislike Chad Doing, but I kind of agree with something he just said. Start Tolliver and see if playing with the starters helps to get him going. Theres not much else to do so I might actually go with that idea. If he continues to suck, then bench him, but if the starters can help him find his groove, then maybe the injury was a sign!

I still don't care for Doing though.

My brother used to dislocate his shoulder all the time when he was more active. The problem is its a recurring thing. The wait is to try to break the recurring cycle. My brothers shoulder would dislocate, he would pop it back in socket and resume whatever he was doing. I don't know what the treatment will be for Zack's shoulder, but I know for fact a dislocated shoulder doesn't have to mean he's out for 2-3 months. A doctor told my brother he needed a surgery if he was going to remain physically active or his shoulder would continue to dislocate. I saw my brother dislocate and pop his should back at least 20 times. Usually, right in the middle of a football or basketball game. He was never out more than 10-15 minutes.

It’s a very long season. Best to be conservative and allow Zach to fully recover. If Tolliver continues to struggle, next man up is Little.

Actually it kinda seems like hesonija will handle most of the pf duties if Zach is out long I’d say. But who the heck is the center now other than whiteside and tolliver?

I do think you rest ZCo as much is needed to prevent any long term injury. We need him healthy for a post season run and I think we can get by without him for the time being. The bigger expense is less depth but as you said I think Little is a name that comes up but more in a 15-20 mpg role if he can handle it well

He's a good guy in real life. Sure we've had debates about the Blazers that got heated, but he's a stand up guy if you ever had the chance to hang out with him. Yes, I'm friends with him so maybe I'm a little bias.

That's what it looked like to me too, his reaction looked really similar to when Meyers dislocated it.

Disagree. I'd rather start Hezonja. I don't think either one is a good option to stretch the floor. Tolliver may have a decent history of hitting 3s, but he hasn't looked good doing it here and he's an utter disaster on the boards and defense. Hezonja meanwhile is actually rebounding pretty well, and playing passable defense. I think Tolliver needs to see the floor in garbage time, or in big leads at this point. If he can claw himself out of that, sure. But otherwise it's either Skal, Hezonja, or small ball Rodney at the four.

I honestly thought this one was going to Dallas starting the 4th. It's a big, team confidence boosting win, IMO.

CJ feeling it this game, but it sure is difficult to watch him dribble to oblivion while his teammates are open on the perimeter. I guess when the ball goes in it's less difficult?

I thought the game was actually called pretty fairly. Dallas for sure got some home cooking, but that's to be expected. Blazers found a way to overcome that.

Collins' dislocation was a bit strange...it was hard to see exactly how it happened. My guess is he's going to play through it. If it comes up again then, I'd say it would be time to sit him. And at that point, yeah...more minutes to Mario and Skal.

Luka and KP are a really nice duo. I think Dallas makes the POs if those two stay healthy--potentially at a higher seed than the Blazers. They are really impossible to match up with. If they had one more really good player they'd be contenders.

Lastly, I like the challenge rule. If nothing else, it looks like it'll cut down on missed, game defining calls in the last couple of minutes and certainly in the last few seconds. It's too bad there isn't a challenge on non-calls, however.

Point-by-point:

- True, CJ is always overdribbling, but we shouldn't sell him completely short tonight. I did see an improved ability around the rim from him. He was better going to the rim tonight than I've ever seen him before. He was using his body to create room to finish, and his physicality at the rim got him to the line regularly. Regardless of his tunnel-vision and over isoing type game, if he can at least improve at the rim and get to the line a bit more... that's a HUGE development for him.

- Yea, the game wasn't that bad. I didn't feel that Dallas was getting many egregious calls. They were legitimately getting fouled quite a bit. But I will say that I thought the Blazers were getting called a little too regularly for ticky-tack stuff. Like the CJ off-arm bump on that drive. Which was then done by Seth Curry for 3 consecutive plays with no call. Overall the game wasn't horribly reffed, but it wasn't good or even either.

- I don't know if he'll play through it. I hope he can. I guess we'll learn more tomorrow. I'd expect he's out a week at the minimum though. Would love if it turns out to be not much, but the average games missed for a dislocated shoulder is like 20+ games. So I wouldn't get my hopes up.

- Challenge rule is good.

Give Little Toliver's minutes, it is better to give minutes to rookie than to give them to guy who was always scrub and who is washed now.

I get it that Tolliver has replaced Leonard as the target of fans irrational criticism. I don't join in with the irrational crowd.

I believe Tolliver if called upon, will do a solid job. He can't replace Collins, but he will play well. He has played only sparingly so far with lineups that haven't moved the ball or otherwise played good basketball. This wouldn't be an issue if he was playing with the starters.

I feel like coaches should get more than one challenge, because NBA refs **** up so many calls in a game. Do it like the NFL. Two challenges per game, if it fails it costs the team a time out, if they win both challenges they get a 3rd.

Does any fan NOT want the players to decide the game rather than the officials?

I'm good at playing the internet ahole and can do a mediocre job as internet comedian. But I don't have the depth to play internet orthopedic surgeon. I'd like to...those guys make a ton of money

sounds like it could be anywhere from a week to a month, maybe even longer. Somebody posted something that said it took an average of 27 games to return, but I'm guessing that was for a separation rather than dislocation. It was weird because it did not look like there was any contact at all on his left side, just an extended arm. Zach said it popped back in cleanly so maybe it will be a quick recovery

IIRC, I think Przybilla missed about a month and Blake missed 3 weeks or so

After looking it up. It could be a shoulder subluxation as well, which is a partial dislocation, and probably a much better recovery time. We'll find out soon I guess.

My girlfriend has dislocated her shoulder so many times she can now do it at will and pop it back in on command. The first dislocation is the worst and could take a good number of weeks to recover, it also increases the chances of dislocation in the future. After many dislocations it's basically a nuisance and not really much of an injury any more. It does however increase the chances of getting other shoulder injuries...

If this is Zach's first dislocation I'm guessing he's gonna be out for a few weeks at least.
