His team just won 2 National championships and he's going to be a solid player

I still don't know if he's worth trading up for but let's see if agrees to workout in Portland

I have zero interest in Clingan and have no idea why others do. Edey tested better in every category in the combine and dominated Clingan in the championship game despite losing.

It'd be interesting to see what the Blazers would have to give up if they were really sold on Clingan

IF Stephon Castle drops to #7…

ORL sends: Jett Howard, #18, #47, DEN 25 frp
POR sends: Brogdon, #7, #34

POR gets below the cap, grabs last years lottery pick who fits their need for a sweet-shooting wing. Still pick at 14 & 18 in a pretty flat draft.

ORL bets heavy on Castle becoming their PGOTF. He tones down his PG NOW rhetoric because he understands that Brogdon has a 1yr deal, often misses time, and the gig is his to take. I think Anthony Black thrives at SF, in the Ingles role…for those concerned about him.

No thanks. Dropping 11 spots in the first round and 13 spots in the 2nd would require more than the Denver 25 first and Jett Howard. I would want either Orlando's 25 or 26 unprotected first in addition. I also believe that Brogdon has some positive value as well beyond pure cap space.

That’s reasonable, no picks go completely unprotected anymore - unless we’re talking about stars. I just don’t think trading down is as big a sacrifice this year. Jett might be your pick at #7 if he was there.

ORL sends: Howard, #18, #47, ORL 25 (top5), DEN 25 frp

Or, Black, #18, #47, DEN 25

For…#7, #34, Brogdon

My instinct is to offer more and swap Brogdon for Simons, but Castle is my bet to ascend and I don’t want Simons at $25m as 6th man in a year (like POR right now). So, I like Brogdon as a placeholder and, if he’ll gracefully accept, future 3rd guard.

Brogdon is great in a third guard role.

That said, I'm totally fine keeping him on the team. I'm not as sold on Scoot as everyone else is, but we're already a #3 pick and season investing into him. So, having a veteran mentor him is worth more than a late 1st to me. Plus he's an expiring, which potentially solves all of our cap space issues next off-season.

This isn't close for me. I get the reasoning but our evaluations on relative value are worlds apart.

I guess Brogdon and #14 might be more fair, but my initial hope was to get a falling Castle. I'd include Anthony Black with less picks, if I somehow come out of it with Brogdon & Castle.

7 will likely land a decent player, one of a group of players which include Holland, Knecht possibly
Clingan, Buzelis. There are easier ways to drop below the tax line for Portland is a team full of
role players and needs better players

No - Not enough value here.

#18 + Den'25 + #47 = #7 + Tax freedom
Howard = #34 (I'd personally prefer to keep the #34)
Nothing <<< Brogdon
