Re: Draft prospect early editon ***Updated Polls
Here's my 2 cents:
Best Three Players in the Draft
1) Otto Porter
2) Trey Burke
3) C.J. McCollum
I don't see us moving up in the draft, and I don't see any of these players falling to #10, although I suppose McCollum has the highest potential to slide to where we are picking. This would be my ideal draft day result. I think he is exactly what we need coming off of the bench. This would allow him to develop slowly, and possibly move into a starting role in a few years.
Players I'd Select if we Stay at #10
1) Steven Adams (the opposite of Leonard. I think the two could co-exist and push each other)
2) Cody Zeller (I see him as a good backup PF, not a C)
3) Shabazz Muhammad (I still think he will find a niche in the NBA)
In all honesty, I'm not a huge fan of selecting at #10. If I were NeO, I think I'd be on the phone with either Atlanta to see their interest in trading #10 for #17 and #18. I think players at these picks have the same bust/success potential as pick #10. Alternatively, see if the Jazz would be interested in #10 for #14 + #21. Maybe see if either team would bite on taking on Freeland's contract with the swap.
Players I'd Select if we Move Down
1) Dennis Schroeder
2) Gorgui Dieng
3) KCP
All of these players have holes in their games, but so does every other player in the draft.
Thoughts?

It sounds like KCP is going 9 to the Wolves..
And I doubt either of those teams package their picks for 10. They can see just like us that there's not much of a difference in the prospects at each position. Obtaining 13 from Dallas is likely are best bet for getting another pick in the teens.

I think I'd rather trade some 2nd's and 10 to move up a few slots. Even though he wouldn't fit I wouldn't mind trading up for say Burke if he fell to 7 or 8. He'd be a great value pick. Or move up for McCollum if we fear Minnesota taking him.
I would just rather be proactive in getting the guy we want instead of accepting the leftovers.

CJ looks really good. He's really smart as well. I think he'd be great as a 6th man off the bench. He could play with Lillard in the same way Maynor did too. I'm just afraid of their defense if that happens.

Is it just me or does the action in that Gobert video seem slightly sped up? Regardless, he looks pretty mobile and effective with his jumper in that setting...

Im not going to hide the fact that I am not a Gobert fan so obviously my opinion is sort of biased but...nobody missed jumpers in that video and the talent consisted of Will Cherry (Montana) 6-1, 181, Chris Evans (Kent State), 6-8, 220, Aziz N'Diaye (Washington), 7-0, 260, Travis Releford (Kansas), 6-6, 210, Brandon Triche (Syracuse), 6-4, 198...not a bunch of world beaters. I think at this stage making uncontested jumpers is not anything to get excited over.

Re: Draft prospect early editon ***Updated Polls
A number of varied opinions as to who Portland would pick at 10 for Draft Express
is now listing Stephen Adams while Chad Ford is listing McCollum.
I'm skeptical CJ will get to 10 for some team will over draft him in the hope he
is this year's Lillard. Drafting another developmental big would make you
wonder which big emerges for its hard to carry two such players. If I
were Portland, I'd identify 5-6 players as a group that could make it to 10
and simply pick the player that falls to 10 for the first 5-6 players are
pretty much set and somebody in the second group has to fall to us at
10.

I got Len, Zeller, McCollum, Pope, Shabazz, Adams or Gobert.
I don't think we have a great chance at the first 4, but the final 3 should all be available.
Also, I think Bennett is likely to fall due to a combination of top 10 teams not needing a PF and his injury history. Would people take him if he fell to us, even though we don't need a PF either and an injury history is extra-worrisome?

Re: Draft prospect early editon ***Updated Polls
The players who won't be available to Portland:
Noel, Oladipo, Porter, McLemore, Burke
Players who ordinarily would fall to 10 but are injured and might drop
Bennett, Len
Players I think are not likely to fall to 10
McCollum, Williams
Everyone else is a candidate for Portland. The strength of the remaining players are
developmental bigs Adam, Gobert, Olynik and others like Pope, Shabazz, Zeller.
Assuming nobody reaches for someone like Dennis Schroeder or Shabazz/
Zeller goes from 7-9, Portland's pick should come from the last group but I'd
pick either Bennett or Len ahead of the last group should they fall.

Right...which is why I mentioned the setting. Hitting open shots is still better than missing them. The recent knock on Gobert has been his mobility and lack of post moves--he seemed fairly fluid and confident in the SAC vid. FWIW, I think many folks would love to see he and Adams go at it...
I would like the TBs to get #13 from Dallas. Depending on the cost, that could be a cheap way to upgrade the bench with a C/PF and G or F...which frees up more money in FA.
I have my suspicions that once it becomes party time Dallas will want more than it's probably worth.

Hopefully someone reaches for MCW like is being speculated. I think it would be a massive mistake for that team since I think MCW will be a total bust, but would help move some of our targets down.

Re: Draft prospect early editon ***Updated Polls
MCW (who is liked by Sacramento at 7 and Detroit at 8) seems to be me much like
Tyreke Evans. He could be a solid player is he shows he is able to make an open
shot but like Tyreke , he's a combo guard. He's going to go in the top 10,
possibly as early as 6 to the Pelicans, especially if Burke is off the board.
I'd love to see McCollum fall us to at 10 for he at the very least would be a solid
third guard. We'd be in great shape if Zeller and CJ were in the group of 5-6
players for they would compliment our core group.

Re: Draft prospect early editon ***Updated Polls
I just disdain perimeter players who can't shoot. MCW is also sloppy with the ball and needs to add strength. I expect a Kendall Marshall-esque rookie year out of him.
I would be very pleased with any of Zelller, CJ, KCP, Len, or even Shabazz. We're in a good spot -- there are a lot of guys in our range that are good fits and can help us right away. It's pretty much just a matter of how the chips fall. I think all of those guys at the very least will be solid rotation players, with potential to be very good starters.

Re: Draft prospect early editon ***Final Poll
Unless a player is tremendously athletic or talented guards who can't shoot rarely pan out.
MCW certainly doesn't qualify as tremendously talented in the other areas to make up for it. He reminds me more of a smaller Shaun Livingston at best.
To say MCW is a bad shooter is a understatement. He stinks.

Re: Draft prospect early editon ***Final Poll
Ricky Rubio and Dre are two guards not known for their outside shot that have
panned out. Basketball smarts, instincts and competitve fire can go a long
way towards compensating for a mediocre jump shot. It's the reason why
a player like Shabazz is going to make it for his competitve fire is #1 in this
draft class.

A lot of PG rising lat lotto Dennis Schroeder, Shane Larkin, MCW. This seems to be a PG and C draft with few wings but very deep through 35 picks.

Re: Draft prospects @ 10
I'm not a fan of MCW at all.. For some reason I feel like a young promising prospect, should be putting up better numbers in his second season at the collegiate level. And his jump shot isn't good at all. That being said I am pro BPA and if that's who our FO feels it is then so be it.. I'd find that hard to believe though.

Re: Draft prospects @ 10
I am not saying we should pick any of those players just how it affects us, like Det Sac And NOH maybe choosing them. I am a strong opponent AGAINST BPA. IT has to a combination of both and since I think we have that position locked up for a number of years and we can't play 2 PG's (Since MCW will probably never be a SG). We should pick any of them, but we haven't even brought in any for a workout so I doubt we are even looking at them.
