I just want to wake up and hear that ORL paid a fair price for Time Lord and Simons

ORL sends: Cole Anthony (one year remaining), Moe Wagner (injured, expiring/TO), Gary Harris (expiring/TO), Anthony Black
DEN 25 frp, ORL 26 frp (top 5)

I assume this is in the ballpark? Cap space, short-term tryout for Cole, an intriguing 2-way prospect for your backcourt, and picks?

Same is true for young guys like Sharpe. You can hold onto youth sometimes for too long and then resign them to deals they don't live up to.

I still believe Simons is and was tradable, but the price needs to be fair and that could mean lower than Cronin wants to accept. Same with Grant.

Ayton's value probably has been pretty low, but also, I'm not convinced the Blazers have ever been wildly motivated to move him.

Yeah, I agree, this all about what the market is willing to pay, and the fact is that Cronin has been asking for too much and appears unwilling to move off the price he sets. We can only infer this by the information that has leaked regarding POR so far, which has backed this up.

Asking for (2) 1st's for Grant
Stating that Simons is not available
RW3 for unprotected 1st
Multiple media mouthpieces of the Blazers, stating Cronin will not move off his price for a player
Cronin saying they like the team they have and don't feel they need to make a deal

Sinons is tradeable
Grant is tradeable
RW3 is definitely tradeable
even Ayton, is tradeable

it all boils down to what Cronin is willing to accept, and he clearly seems to lack the ability to pivot in a deal. It is apparently just his price or nothing.

Look forward to seeing POR trade these guys for pennies on the dollar or re-sign them to above market deals.

Thybulle is the epitome of Cronin's dumb strategy.

- Match an overpriced contract from DAL.
- By doing that they take their potentially available space under the luxury tax from $15mil to $4mil, basically taking them out of the "We will take your bad contracts for assets" game
- Watch Thybulle possibly walk in FA this offseason (he has a PO), meaning they re-signed him, taking up valuable cap space and then will possibly let him walk for nothing. The "concept" behind retaining an asset is to get something of value back for them, not to kill your cap space and then get nothing for him

But hey, we are witnessing Croninomics 101

Yes, I would be on board with this deal. Now if you can convince ORL mgmt and POR fans can convince Cronin, let's do this!!!

I believe all of the Blazer players mentioned here, are tradeble, It is their contracts that erode their trade value. If they were on better contracts, than Cronins asking prices would be fair. Williams injury history vs his fair contract is the exception.

I've been chatting with the Orlando board regularly the last week or so, they're all pretty pro that deal or something along the same lines. They know they desperately need a scorer like Simons.

Here's the thread for those interested: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2414317

Its obviously a mix of opinions (as is the case with any topic), but by in large there's support for getting Simons or Collin Sexton.

As an added bonus if he goes east he will only give us 2 revenge games a year instead of 3-4

I'm not that worried about revenge games from Simons.

Well even if he did put up 30 Scoot would probably drop 50 on that weak defense

Waive Moe and Gary…Moe is out for a calendar year and ORL would like him back someday. I figure he’d never pack a bag

I believe they have to still have the spots open for them to go into before they can waive them.

Again... Portland still needs to have the roster spots for them to initially go into before they can waive them. The Blazers don't have any open roster spots right now, so they can't do a 2 for 4 trade. Two more players need to be going out or the deal, Portland needs to waive two players, or different players need to be coming from the Orlando side to balance out the deal from the player transaction side.

The more balanced deal from the players perspective is a 2 for 2 deal of Simons and RobWill for Isaac and Anthony. I know your opinion on the value of Iaac's contract so we don't need to get in a back and forth on that, but I also respectfully disagree that JI has all that much value just because he has a contract that has a lot of injury provisions on it.

Orlando response to the trade proposal - let's say the response wasn't positive. Moving on...

I didn’t realize that…gotcha. I like the 2 for 2 better as well.

Isaac has limited value…he’d be paid double if not for the injuries. Time Lord is an equivalent risk.

Maybe the Orlando poster who was hyping up Isaac's value was someone else. I know someone was talking about him like some crazy valuable contract which had me giving a side-eye.

Isaac
Anthony
DEN 2025 FRP
ORL 2026 FRP (lottery protected in perpetuity, debt extinguished if not conveyed by 2031)

for

Simons
Williams
3 POR SRPs in 2025, 2026, 2027

or

Wagner (Mo obviously)
Anthony
DEN 2025 FRP

for

Simons
Reath

Those are my deals I think would work out for both sides perfectly.

I don't disagree on Isaac. But i do think ants defense is a liability. I also, however, think what he brings would make Orlando better as they need his skillset pretty badly
