Ugh, I hope not. Much more fait in Scoot as a blue chipper than Miller.

A pretty funny thought: With Miller saying Paul George is his GOT, did that piss off Jordan, did that change his mind lol?

Right now it's -255 for Miller at two and +150 for Henderson. Which is a big swing back from -500 but still not even odds at all. Still pretty big Miller favorite. If we get down to like -175, -150 though then someone might be hearing something. -115 and -115 for both I would put assuredly Scoot is going two.

But I've long held the belief they will draft him at two.

I mentioned this in the other thread, but part of me wonders if this isn't some trade talk with Charlotte picking up a little steam. Today is the day trade talks get real. There were some rumblings about Houston trying to trade up to 2, so maybe them and Charlotte swap spots? Maybe Charlotte and New Orleans talks are picking up steam... MJ wanting to bring Zion back to his hometown or Mitch wants to get his old Laker pick back in Ingram?

A possibility, but I think taking on that much salary is going to have to end with incoming owners approval.

It's going to be a long day.

If we've seen one thing with new owners, they generally love to spend money. Doubt that would be a problem, but I get your point. I have to imagine if the new owners were OK telling Jordan to make the final call, they they are willing to accept whatever that call is too.

If it is Zion to Charlotte, then Miller to Portland... does that leave a keep-Dame pathway open for using the pick and bringing in veteran help via a Simons trade? Portland may end up kicking themselves not trying to get in on the KP trade if thats how this shakes out...

Dame
Sharpe
Miller
Grant
Porzingis

would have been an interesting group that I think Dame could have been convinced to stay for. Now though, is that big C upgrade out there? Does Portland finally work with Chicago to get that pick unlocked and maybe they offer a big 4 FRP trade for someone like Turner to swap Nurk for?

And yes, it will be a lonnnnng wait to 5.

Or maybe Charlotte is just going to take Scoot period... maybe it's that classic MJ spite pick with Miller saying PG was his GOAT and not MJ lol

I'm okay with keeping Dame with Shaedon and the pick. I want to keep Dame. But to keep all three and Anfernee is malpractice. And infuriating if true. I'll hope it's posturing right now.

9/10ths of twitter posts are just people whose wage depends on them getting clicks throwing stuff at a wall trying to get fans to bite. The remaining 1/10 is split between actual news and smoke screens.

Fans thinking its a rollercoaster are just those believing in the sports version of fanfiction.

Scoot is now -425 to go second, which is upsetting. So close.. so close.

Both Portland/Charlotte seem to be playing the same game of an 11th hour trade

Reading the Hornets board, they seem amused MJ was offended when Miller answered back that
he was more than just a tall shooter and that he appears to be lobbying to go to Portland.

Unless they have a trade in the works, I don't know how the 19 year old Scoot fits with a 22 year old
Melo, for both need the ball. They seem genuinely torn between both players and keep hoping there
is a last minute trade between Charlotte and Houston.

I suppose I will be happy if they take Scoot for at least the Zion talk for 3 would go away. I would still
shop Simons + 23 but with Miller, it's safe to say Portland would have a better pair with Grant/Miller
than they had with Aminu/Harkless. Miller is unlikely to ever be Paul George but physically a twin of
Brandon Ingram.

Yep, exactly where I’m at with it too. Seeing Simons name in there is what’s blowing my mind. Then that means the plan is to just run in back with Miller as the big off-season addition. And look, I’m not upset about it with trying to thread the needle with Miller as the pick, I think he could be a perfect SF for Portland and a great fit with Sharpe. Those two could be a really dynamic 2/3 duo.

The issue I have is with Dame at that point. You just cannot being Dame and Simons back unless you’re finally going to bring Simons off the bench I guess?

It just feels like the worst path to make no one really happy.

So after freaking 4 weeks and 2 in person workouts, the Hornets are basically 50/50 a few hours away from the draft.

What a ridiculous franchise.

I mean, I always liked Miller too. He's exactly the prototypical SF this team has been wanting for ages in the Paul George vein. As I've said from the beginning, I'm fine with whoever.

What's more upsetting to me is that if feels like a pick of Miller is going to lead to just another "let's run it back" year. Hoping I'm wrong, but boy does it feel that way with Cronin trying to convince Dame that Miller is a Day 1 player and will give the team high level production of an All Star SF right away... and he may be right, but to see no changes would be pretty disappointing.

I dont think Miller is near the prospect that Scoot is.

I see much more Trey Murphy than PG13 in Brandon. The vision, handle, functional athleticism - I dont see that w/ Miller like w/ George.

This team sure as hell would love a Trey Murphy - but w/ #3 your hoping for more.

Also, FWIW, someone did a deep dive in 3PT% from NBA range - Miller was at 34%, Scoot at 33%.

I think there is a real chance that low release hinders Brandon's ability to accurately shoot an elite % from the NBA line - and if he cant be a 40%+ 3PT guy in the NBA, his value dramatically decreases IMO
