Wouldn't surprise me one bit if we traded for another first rounder. Use 10 on a project big and the lower pick for McCollum, wherever he shall land.

That would be 3 less rookies than last season

To be fair we weren't spending any real money that year. I don't know if 2 lotto picks are what we need with 3 2nd rounders.

I do however like BJ Young. Right now is is listed at the tail end of the 2nd round. We already had him in for a workout. He could go to a team like NYK who need a G.
I think he reminds of the Eric Bledsoe/ Reggie Jackson type PG. HE would play much his first year but could replace Maynor like Jackson did if we decide to bring Maynor back.
He measured incredibly at the Combine length wise. With a over 6'8" wingspan and over 8feet standing reach.
Interesting how he says the ball change in the SEC affected his good shot at Arkansas.

I wouldn't say that. Because the Blazers have three 2nd round picks as well. Plus what if they bring in Kostas Papanikolaou? That would be 6 rookies.

We would still most likely have the capspace to add 1-3 pretty good vets. The two are not mutually exclusive

If they have talent no problem. Of course in all likelihood if we obtain the 13th we probably gave up at least 2 of those 2nds in exchange for the other 1st

As of right now, it looks like McCollum is going to be a Top 10 pick and may even go before the Blazers. So yeah, I don't think Portland will be able to grab McCollum with a lower pick than their own.

Re: Draft prospects @ 10
McCollum has a chance to go as high as 5 to Phoenix and each team after Phoenix
(NO, Sac, Detroit and Minnesota) is looking for a guard. There looks to be a run on
guards which means Portland's pick would be a project big which is why there are
renewed rumors about dealing their pick.

Lillard's success is giving McCollum a nice bump too.

Also, a name people should start looking into is Lucas Nogueira. He's been shooting up the draft boards like a rocket in the past week. He apparently has had some amazing workouts and drawing a lot of comparisons to a Marcus Camby style C. I don't know if he's going to be doing any workouts with Portland, however he could be a diamond in the rough type. Right now, nbadraft.net has him all the way up at the #11 pick. Not sure he'll go THAT high, but mid-lower first round is possible, so if Portland could grab a 2nd 1st rounder, he'd be a nice get I think.
Adams and Leonard have quite a lot of things in common. Similar size, athleticism, talent, being very raw.
But Leonard is a little soft, doesn't rebound well, shoots jumpers (not that that's a bad thing) while Adams has toughness and hustle and plays like a big man. And Adams is a lot better on defense with the potential to be great. So no they are not carbon copies of each other. Far from it actually.
And you diss Adams but hype up Nogueira? Nogueira is even more raw than Adams and lacks focus, toughness and intensity.

I don't expect the Blazers to draft 3 players in the 2nd round. They'll either trade at least 2 of those picks ore stash players overseas. I would imagine they'll trade them though for future picks (assets).

I wasn't "dissing" Adams, nor was I "hyping" Nogueira. I guess if you're not a fan of Meyers Leonard, you might consider the comparison a diss, but it wasn't meant that way. I just don't see a ton of difference in them that others are suggesting. Adams is going to be just as much a project as Meyers is/was. At the #10 pick, I'd like to get someone who's going to be more of an immediate impact guy and not take 2 or 3 years to develop.
As for Nogueira, I simply said he was shooting up draft boards (a fact) and that he could be a nice get at a secondary lower pick (also a fact). All I said was to keep an eye on him. If that constitutes "hyping", then I suppose I'm guilty, but it would seem we both have wildly differing definitions of that word.
Look, I could very well be wrong, just as you could and just as anyone can on rookies in the draft. It's a crap shoot with a million different unpredictable variables that determine when and if a player develops. We're all just giving our armchair assessments of these guys.

Re: Draft prospects @ 10
Here is where I have the draft going
1) Noel
2) McLemore
3) Porter
4) Oladipo (trade down with Minnesota)
5) Len (Gortat replacement)
6) Burke
7) McCollum
8) Bennett
9) Pope
10) Zeller
I think Portland will make a run a Timofey Mozgov of the Nuggets in free agency which allows
them to take BPA . It would be interesting to see what type of offers Charlotte can get
if Oladipo is on the board at 4. Would Portland trade Wesley Matthews to the Bobcats to
get up to 4?

Watch Adams blow up next year like another prospect who was suppose to take 3-4 years.

I was all over the Drummond bandwagon last year (still a little bitter about that), but, IMO, Adams is nowhere near what Drummond was as far as potential. Adams has a much lower ceiling. I'd rather let Leonard develop, and use our 10th pick on someone like McCollum, Zeller, or Muhammad.
The only big men worth taking in the top 10 are Noel, Zeller, and Len. I wouldn't waste my time with anyone else. I will say that I don't know too much about Nogueira though. Intriguing prospect, but not someone I'd take at 10 on the limited knowledge that I have on him.
