I’m sure PHX is still trying to peddle Nurkic

Vucevic is still out there I think

ATL has Capela, Bogdanovic & Hunter

Jazz have Sexton, Clarkson & Collins

Oh yeah, POR has…..oh…..never mind

Who’s left that could be a buyer for our guys?

Grant, Ayton, Simons in particular?

Grant would be Cleveland (2031 1st), Detroit, Memphis, Denver (Porter Jr)? And I’m reaching hard…

Simons maybe Orlando or Brooklyn?

Ayton Charlotte, Washington, Chicago?

Charlotte literally has nobody to play center but I fail to see why they would want Ayton or TL.

I'm really hoping tomorrow, Simons will be on his way to Orlando.

Orlando badly needs a shot creator/good shooting guard. They have been playing poorly, one would think they would make a move here like Simons/Sexton/Reaves

They seem very interested in coby white but feels like something will indeed happen there. What makes me nervous is LA (reeves) and Chicago (white) seem like pretty willing sellers currently

I wonder if there's any shot Cleveland likes jerami?

I believe that this, this year right now, today, this great day, is the day we trade Ant and Jerami.

Let today be that day. A DAY OF RIGHTEOUS TRUTH AND YOUTH MOVEMENT.

That would be a fine trade if Mark weren't so injury prone. They could have had a number of centers for that 1st, probably even protected, without having to give up Knecht.

I'm sure they do basketball wise. But acquiring him would send them into luxury tax hell.

Wouldn’t it be funny if POR acquired Nurkic back for draft capital? It won’t happen but would be hilarious

Never bought Grant to CLE. Too expensive a team already to add a meh guy like Jerami who is highly paid and highly paid for a long time.

Hunter is younger, having a breakout year and much cheaper. Good deal for CLE.

Grant isnt getting moved. He is a negative contract.

For anyone holding out a shred of hope for Grant to Cleveland, need to consider they're determined to get under the lux tax.

Why did we sign Grant to this stupid contract and why on top of that did we give HIM the opt out for year 5?

Never i repeat NEVER make player/agent promises to a non all star player. Players like this are easy enough to acquire

And did we even try to work with him? "Perhaps another team would give you that same offer?" Sure i get having to keep a promise we should have never ever EVER EVEN IF HE WAS THE LAST PLAYER ON EARTH made. But couldn't we see about an alternative that would allow him to find that money without us committing to it? If he gets the same contract somewhere else great

But the po at the end is what pisses me off the most because to me that says we begged him to stay. You don't put that po in unless you've got to beg and why are we begging for that stupid contract?

I don't think Grant is a negative. When he's on, he's good on both ends.

The problem is, young/rebuilding teams aren't going to be interested in a 30 year old making that much. And for contenders, his added salary would push them over the luxury tax in a lot of cases. I think something will materialize at some point though...

Grant isn't a negative impact but his contract by all appearances makes him a negative on the open market

It’s fair to say we outbid against ourselves, because Jerami is a decent guy who was willing to be used however we needed to use him. Too bad his flaws just seem to follow him around.

I'll give Cronin a little grace on the Grant contract. The contract itself stinks and it shouldn't have been structured the way it was... I think that could have been more thoughtfully put together... it just felt like they asked ChatGPT to make a standard NBA contract and had Jerami sign what it spit out.

That said... why they signed him to it, they kind of were forced to given the timing of the Dame drama. Cronin (maybe naively so) was operating under the impression Dame was staying. Reports of the situation were that they knew Dame was frustrated but were hoping they can keep him and were going to still try and make moves in the summer after the draft to make Dame happy... the timeline of what happened was they had Grant verbally agree the the contract, then a day or two later was when Dame officially demanded a trade to Miami. At that point, obviously it would have been great to rescind that contract offer, but as a professional sports organization, you can't do that. You'll burn the franchise's rep with all agents if you do a move like that. So at that point, they were a bit stuck. If they had dragged their feet on Jerami waiting for Dame to make his decision, they could have lost Grant in FA for nothing as he was a pretty highly sought after FA that summer (it was a weak FA class iirc).

I understand the logic behind the contract when it was signed, although the logic was a bit sketchy. What is unforgivable to me is that Cronin could have traded Grant to the Lakers in the off-season but stupidly insisted on TWO frp rather than taking just one frp. Stupid on an epic level, now I fear we are stuck with him for the remainder of his contract. :banghead:
