News flash... We aren't going to get Lebron or Durant. Batum was leaving. Other than them Parsons is the best SF on the market and it's not even close.

If we don't get Parsons you'll bitch about not upgrading. And if we aren't able to get a premium center you'll bitch about that too. If we resign our own guys and are basically capped out & a first round exit next year you'll also bitch.

What realistic scenario makes this free agency a success to you?

I'm bitching about Parsons because I think the guy seems like an egotistical prick. A talented egotistical prick, but an egotistical prick none the less.

I've never heard him say anything like that unless it was clearly sarcastic or a joke. Did he sleep with your girl?

How does Portland have enough money exactly?

The same way we've explained getting Parsons+Whiteside 30 different times.

And because math.

It could be a couple of things... #1... they could have a deal in place to move a body to free up additional cap space. With Parsons coming on it seems likely Portland has decided to play Aminu at the PF. If that is the case it's seems logical they could have a deal in place for Ed Davis.

If Portland renounces everyone but Crabbe, that gets them to roughly 38-39 million in cap space. So if it's a full max for Whiteside or Dwight, and say... starting at 18/yr for Parsons... you could get there...

Did anybody else see Meyers Leonard's tweet a moment ago? He deleted it almost immediately, but it said "Ain't seen nothing yet."

Could that be: "I haven't seen any deals, yet," OR "Parsons is just the tip of the iceberg?"

My guess is it's the former, but my hope is it's the latter.

Parsons is a good fit but good lord is that some contract for someone with his injury history. Hopefully his knee holds up for the duration of the contract.

Adding Parsons, and a little more depth, while bringing most everyone back would make for a competitive team. Parsons would play 60-70 games probably but if Harkless, Crabbe and Aminu were still around then no one would have to play heavy minutes in the regular season.

A bigger issue is if 2 near max contracts happen and POR has to lose depth to do so. I wouldn't want to rely on Parsons for a heavy role which would probably happen without depth. If there is depth though Parsons could be an okay idea.

Just finished meeting with Parsons. Took about 2 hours. Next up Mem on Friday. Then Orl? I like our chances.

So if you take Aminu and add 2 years of age, a microfracture surgery, about 4 points a game and 1 assist but take away defense and a couple of rebounds you get a 24 million dollar/year player?

I don't get it. This is Olshey's needle moving, all-in move?

Way to oversimplify it. Yes a legitimate 3rd option is a needle mover.

Presumably Parsons would have to pass the teams physical before any contract is final.

What happens next for a big if we strike out on Whiteside and Howard? The way the market
is going with Mozgov getting 4/64, Aldrich is likely going to be asking for a similar deal
which means we would have to sacrifice our team depth to get him?

It's not that oversimplified...

Fans are obviously divided on Parsons. His injuries are real and no doubt a part of why Dallas fans are willing to let him go.

Aminu could very well end up having a better career with the Blazers and be a more legitimate 3rd option.

Aminu is a great energy guy and a very solid defender but he is not nor likely ever to be a good third option on offense

I read somewhere that Pau is also an option. Would be great if 2 year deal with remaining cap space.
