Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
Aminu has had one season of respectable 3 point shooting in his career, and makes me afraid any time he dribbles. He's shown absolutely zero ability to have the offense flow after he touches the ball. It's either a shot, an out of control drive, or he has to wait for another one of our guards to come get the ball back.
If your ability to analyze basketball stops at comparing per game numbers and ages then your opinion doesn't count for much of anything.

Aminu can't play at SF his skillset simply too limited for this position. Its even too bad for starting position.
Anyway HEALTHY Chandler could be big upgrade with current roster. And he could be biggest FA deal for years too. But I not sure he decided to sign with Portland yet.

Parsons is an upgrade over Crabbe. Although long term that is debatable considering Crabbe has been pretty healthy, is younger and has been improving each year whereas Parsons hasn't really improved much since being in Houston.
That said, wing depth is pretty valuable as the NBA enters a small ball era. Having guys like Crabbe, Parsons, Harkless, Aminu, and Layman could allow POR to play some long lineups and switch everything on defense, giving a better opportunity for good defensive lineups.
I'm for Parsons if his attitude and health are good. And if POR doesn't give up depth. Depth seems to be pretty vital these days to keep guys healthy, and have various matchup options.

Parsons is a major upgrade over everybody, not named Lillard or McCollum.
Depth is nice, but you can't jump over treadmill level team simply with your depth. You have to add some talent too.

Sure, he's a good player and he fits well, but those knees doe.... After Bowie, Oden, and Roy, I'm good.

I have merged this with the 2016 offseason thread since all Parsons discussion has been going on there for four hours.
Should Parsons be signed, we may start a new thread on that for continued discussion.

Seems like Dallas is striking out on many fronts. I wonder if they fall short of their FA targets if they'll come back to Parsons and offer him a fifth year and max despite originally balking.

Yeah if he gets that Parsons definitely deserves his max. I just hope it's with us and not Mem.

Lol Whiteside posted for us all to go to bed on Snapchat and that his decision will be posted in the am. Isn't it already morning?
Anyway since he said he'll post his decision 6 mins ago withouteven meeting with us, means he stays in Mia or goes to Dal.
I want the names of all reports who said well meet with him.

I mean. He said he'll post in the morning and we reportedly have a meeting with him in the morning, so.

I suppose but usually you don't say when you'll announce your decision unless you already made it.

Playing golf and regularly checking the updates. Then I see Parsons and I was a bit underwhelmed for sure. I defs wanted Whiteside and maybe there's still potential. Part of the reason I hated the idea of Parsons was because my boy Moe Harkless was gonna get shafted + the injuries. Mo probably on his way out now which is sad but gotta cop it sweetly I suppose. Oh well, maybe Parsons will be a good signing and that much needed 3rd option.

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
I remember last year, I came to this board to write about how great Aminu would be and how that contract would end up being a bargain.
This year, I can't exactly say the same for Parsons (he is being paid market value), but for one main reason: his knee injuries. If you were guaranteed that he will be injury free, that contract will be more than ok and I think the Blazers will actually get value for him if they want to trade him in a year. Ideally, since he is coming off two injury hit seasons, you'd like to see your team get some discount, but it just seems that's not possible when so many teams have money to max players.
He'll be perfect on offense in the Blazers system, he is a threat to put up big numbers, something like 18ppg with great efficiency. He can replicate some of Batum's handling duties. He is very polished on offense, despite his jumper being awkward looking. The downside is that Aminu will have a lot of work on defense to cover up for everybody because he struggles a bit on defense - to me he just look like he doesn't have the same intensity all game and in all games on defense.
Truth be told, I am in a minority of Mavs fans who actually liked him - I can't blame him for getting hurt and when he was healthy he did ok. Most people ended up disliking him because he is "soft" and all the outside stuff "good looking guy who thinks highly of himself", so people get upset because they think he is delusional, arrogant and may not have the work ethic of others - I think this last part is totally false. He is soft though - that part is true.
I thought the Blazers would go all in for a Center first, Parsons kind of feels more like a luxury, since the offense didn't seem to be the problem last year.

Good for the Heat. I wonder what Dallas does now.
