Re: 2013 Draft/Prospect Thread.
I think with our 2nd rd picks we should go for, BJ Young James Sutherland Jackie Carmichael. Two out of those there, I can't believe how under the radar James has been good size length and shooting, Ditto BJ Young, he could be our Reggie Jackson. I wouldn't mind Erick Green if we traded Papa for a late 20's pick. If we pass on BJ though we are gonna regret it.

BJ has one of the worst shooting forms I have ever seen, still he is very explosive.

It's crazy that Len is higher now (injured) than he was when he played his last game before the injury. He's shot up the boards massively.
Noel's injury is a worry, Bennett is a big risk unworthy of using #1 on, and Porter fills a position which we're strong with (Batum).
I'd take Oladipo. I know he's not the typical #1 type of player, but he is the most promising player in this draft. His floor is very high, and, while he has a lot to improve on, his ceiling is very high as well and his attitude and work-ethic lead me to believe he can reach his ceiling.
The only player in this draft that is a typical #1 type is Noel, but the injury and weight concerns do scare me off a bit. I would need positive word from a renowned physician I trusted before I would take a chance with him.
The thing with Len is that he was injured for half the season, they only found out what it really was after the season ended. That could actually be a contributing factor as to why his stock has risen. Playing on a fractured ankle can't be too easy.

CJ McCollum very impressive. Told one of the three teams outside the top 10 trying to trade up for him (Utah, Phily, Port).

Kantavious Caldwell-Pope thinks he will go to Minnesota at 9 if he's there (I do too). Also went to Port, Cleve, Bos, Dallas and Milwaukee.

Portland is in the Top 10 though.....
That said, I'm not the least bit surprised Utah wants him. The Jazz have stopped just short of publicly saying, "We're definitely picking a PG". Their GM gave an interview about a week ago where he just telegraphed exactly what they're targeting.

"IF" he is there at 10 would we take 14 and 21 for the 10?

No. I however WOULD do #10 and Freeland for #14. Dumping Freeland would be more important that a pick in the 20's in this draft. Combine losing Freeland's deal with the reduced rookie contract of going from #10 to #14 would result in a decent bump to the Blazers cap space.

Cleveland is still shopping around and trying to pull off a trade, according to source. One source said Cavs are trying to "do a mega deal."

Who's going to take on that contract with his knees as shot as they are?

Alex Kennedy is about as bad of a source as they come, but he's probably accurate as the Cavs have been trying to do this for weeks now. Seems unlikely as from everything we can tell, the interest in this years #1, Thompson and Waiters seems lukewarm at best by all other teams outside of Cleveland.

Of course he's going to say that, he's trying to salvage his draft stock seeing as it looks like he's lost his position as this years #1 pick.

Look at McCollum's A/T ratio and tell me he's an NBA PG. He is a combo guard who would look best as a shooter next to a good playmaker and defender at PG like Rubio. I got him at Minnesota without much hesitation. Plus, we know Minnesota is obsessed with us, and they will want to recreate a Lillard like situation.

You mean David Kahn is obsessed with the Blazers and he no longer runs the show.
