Some contract Guru help me out.

If we don't convey our 1st round pick to Chicago by 2028, but in 2028, we make the playoffs, does that cancel out our 2028 swap with the Bucks?

Because our pick goes to Chicago, and therefore we have nothing to swap. It seems that Chicago trade would take precidence because it was made first.

I'm pretty sure we'll get there, but that could really suck. Nance could end up costing us a high lotto pick.

^man that'd stink to lose a high lotto pick. Fortunately I'd imagine we either make the playoffs or miss it before 2028 (rebuild either goes well enough to make playoffs by 2027 or we reset again) so what happens before that point will likely allow us to keep the better pick if I were a betting man. And of course there's a chance the Bucks pick is in the middle of the draft and not that significant a loss anyhow

Yes - you are correct.
Pick goes to CHI and Portland doesn't have a pick remaining to swap.

Every year 25/26/27/28, if it has already not been conveyed to CHI, the pick belongs to CHI, it only becomes POR pick, if it falls within 1-14 (lotto) range.

In 2028 the pick is owed to CHI unless it falls 1-14, therefore the swap with MIL is void b\c the pick is CHI pick and not POR pick.

If the pick does fall within 1-14, it then becomes POR pick and then I think would be able to be swapped for MIL pick, but only if MIL pick was lower, although I am not entirely sure on that and the chances of a swap occurring are much less likely. POR BTW would owe CHI their 28' 2nd round pick instead.

Also to note, this also hampers POR b\c of the Stepien rule, since that 28' pick is technically CHI pick, POR cannot trade both of the 29' picks they have.

This is why MIL 28' pick swap is protected 15-30
Portland will receive the more favorable of its 2028 1st round pick, protected for selections 15-30 if Portland has not conveyed a 1st round pick to Chicago by 2027, and Milwaukee's 2028 1st round pick

Portland has the option to flip 1-14 2028 pick with ANY Milwaukee 1st so long as the Chicago obligation has been conveyed (15-30 range goes to Chicago if we haven't met our obligation in 2026 or 2027, if its 1-14 portland keeps the 1st and instead conveys its 28 second as aforementioned)

So did Tatim tear his Achilles? Tatum's move sure looked similar to the move Lillard made when he tore his Achilles. Judging by the way both players reacted in the moment, perhaps Lillards tear is not as serious as Tatum's? Lillard just kind of sat there with a grin on his face knowing he was done, but Tatum was writhing in pain on the floor.

Lillard, Tatum, and Haliburton all go down with Achilles injuries. Tstum was squirming on the floor, Haliburton was pounding on the floor, but Lillard just sat there. Was Lillard's injury less severe? The other two showed a lot of emotion and tears, but not Lillard. Might he return sooner than the other two players? Or is he just that much of a stud?

Severity of injury and pain tolerance have wide ranges.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

It would be very funny if we traded Jrue Holiday for Dame.

Well, Jrue, RW3, and Thybulle to Milwaukee for Lillard works. Does Milwaukee have anything more worth obtaining? Could find a way to include Ayton instead of RW3 and Thybulle.

Milwaukee is the place where I would be bet Jrue ends up. Some version of Dame+ Pat
for Ayton+ Jrue for they are operating over the second apron.

What will Lillard garner on the open market? I'd love to have him back for the vet min. Sign him to 3 more yeas and let him sit this one out.

Since he's being paid a ton already for the next 2 years -> it should be at vet mins. For year 3- it will be dependent upon what value he brings in year 2.

Case has to be estatic on this one. And I am happy about that. I am not sure on how you deal with Dame, Scoot and Jrue but we can figure that out in a year.

Cool story. PDX is really ticking off marketing boxes this offseason w/ Dame and Yang.

Yup--no need to even worry about it since Jrue will likely be an assistant coach with the team before Dame is able to come back full time. And using him as a Vinnie Johnson instant-offense type with unlimited range to finish out his career probably wouldn't be bad. I know Dame probably hates that is the likely outcome, but the dude got paid, and he gets to retire a Blazer, and I bet that means even more at this stage in his life.
