Re: 2025 Blazer Draft Prospects
It's strange and maybe this is just coach talk but Chauncey says he Yang is ready to play right now. If that's the case we dont need Ayton. Reath is flexible enough to step in where needed. And of the course the million dollar question is are we expected to win now?

Re: 2025 Blazer Draft Prospects
I'm trying to restrain my usual cynicism about trades/picks/moves because while I'm pretty sure I've been right more than I've been wrong, I have been wrong about things. For instance, I was about 62% convinced Cronin was going to re-sign Simons this summer. Thank god I was wrong about that
anyway, my recollector is working overtime and I sure seem to be having some deja-vu about the Yang pick. A bit of 13-years-later deja-vu when we got very similar GM-speak about the virtues and upside of Meyers Leonard from Olshey that we're getting from Cronin about Yang. IIRC, Meyers was a bit of a reach too at his draft slot. And, I remember the fan optimism about Meyers building right after the draft, the same way the fan optimism is building about Yang. The same type of Copium prescribed and swallowed
Obviously that doesn't mean the results are going to be similar...they might be polar opposite. A big difference is that when drafting Meyers the Blazers only had one C under contract: JJ Hickson. Blazers had 4 C's under contract when drafting Yang. Another difference is that 13 years ago slow-footed, plodding C's were a lot more usable with bigger roles than now

I'm whiling to roll with the Yang pick, and give him a chance. And keep a side eye on what Cronin does with this C situation.
The NBA is entertainment. In that regard, Yang is already a success. However....
Where I draw the line is.. I do not believe Yang is NBA ready. That is going one bridge too far. Hope Yang proves me wrong.

I just love how everybody says he can't play or he is not ready yet no one has seen him play yet.

Rare interview with Schmitz and insight into their scouting. Sounds like my dream job.

Except your too emotional, and I don't mean that as an insult

Interesting 2 minute report on Mavs working out Yang. Don't know if it is 100% accurate?

Highly doubt it's true.
I don't think players under contract can do a competitive workout with draft prospect.
Also there's no way for 'Yang to skip the draft so Dallas can sign him directly'....
The report doesn't pass the sniff test

Yeah, technically speaking, rookies aren’t allowed to work out against current players due to CBA rules, it’s also sus to have exact stats like that (but not impossible).
Now… if the Mavs were encouraging him to skip the draft and it was a private workout, this would mean they had him in unofficially (fineable) before he even declared or before actual predraft workouts.
I don’t know enough about the behind the scenes to know if this is true. The voice over of the video was insanely AI driven, so I’m highly inclined to not believe it… but who knows these days…
Get ready to learn Chinese buddy... #YangBang

Given the PDX C injury history, they probably need to sign some more

maybe...if it was 20 years ago
OKC has 1 C and 2 PF's/C's in their rotation
Indiana has 2 stretch-5's-PF/C's in their rotation
Denver had 2 C's but one is a 3-time MVP
Houston has 2 C's in their rotation, but one is PF-level mobile and averaged over 5 assists
good teams these days usually don't carry more than 1 immobile drop-coverage C's. Portland has at least 3, maybe 4 with Reath. And a 5th who never plays because of injury
