What a great pick.

yeah..that's pretty nice

the good thing is if the nets are bad enough to stink their way into a top-3 pick this year, Deron Williams may leave and 2013 could be a really good pick

I think Sullinger will be solid at worst, I think he's a very safe pick. Harrison Barnes is Luol Deng at worst, again, very safe pick. Drummond scares the living crap out of me and I think Perry Jones is a 100% bust -- don't want any part of those guys. Bradley Beal is the guy in our range I am in love with -- I think he is going to be a tremendous pro.

Mix tape.

Yeah, Marshall is incredible!
Not sure a lottery pick but a excellent tournament could change that--would love to somehow package our 2nd round picks with Claver/Nolan to move up and grab him!

I was thinking the same thing! maybe our 2 2nd rounders + Nolan for Bostons first?

by the way, RealGM says it is unprotected next year:

Is there any protections on the 2013 pick that we traded away? I wasn't worried about it when it looked like we would be in the playoffs for a while, but now the pick protection becomes relevant again.

The Clippers helped us out today. They played a Phoenix team that started Sebastian Telfair instead of Steve Nash. And they lost. Utah won too, but they beat Minny so that's a negligible difference.

Golden State is going to be hard to catch. Their last month is brutal, though they do play us twice, both in Portland, maybe we can manage to lose both?

Nets play Friday and Saturday. Can we wait till Sunday before declaring Okur and Williams 'passed' their physicals? Let them have a couple extra games without Crash...

Kendall freaking Marshall. I'm really hoping we can land another late first rounder to grab him. Have you guys seen this guys passing?! Reminds me of Rondo without the attitude, and a lesser defender.

You hear in football about a QB having a quick release? Well Marshall has a quick release. I'm impressed with his anticipation and his definitive decision making. That said, his shot is so much slower which is in odd contrast.

I'm really hoping he can develop his offense, because it's pretty bad. However, I'm a real fan of pass first PG's. All I would really expect from him (If we draft him) is to distribute to the LMA and whatever other big we draft. Guy could seriously lead the league in assists in a few years.

He's a fantastic passer, unfortunately he seems to have the same flaws to his game that prevented Sergio from being successful in the NBA, only they're more pronounced. He'll have serious issues penetrating and finishing at the rim due to well below average athleticism, and his lack of a jump shot will let defenders sag off him.

No complaints here. I was semi worried that the protection would change severly after 1 year, but I'm happy with the move even if the pick somehow falls out of the lottery.

normally, that's a strategy that teams do employ

However, since both Net players have significant injuries and are out for the year, I'm guessing that the Blazers waiving physicals was probably part of the trade agreement

Hey guys, long time since my last post but with two lottery picks I had to give you my 2 cents...

Our targets should be:

Harrison Barnes/Bradley Beal
and
Meyers Leonard

I agree that Beal would be a great pick for us. Barnes is a nice player but I don't think he would be a good fit for us. We need players who can attack the basket off the dribble.

I don't think Leonard is going to enjoy a ton of success at the next level.

What makes you say that about Leonard? I would strongly argue the opposite... 7'0, athletic, skilled, great frame that will fill out, and high BBIQ

Lamb+Sullinger or Lamb+Leonard ftw.

Hell, even Rivers and one of those big men would be awesome. Really just depends who is staying for the 12-13 season, I wish we'd know now lol
