32-50 please. Same record as 07 so we can win the lottery again.

We need to get lucky with one of our player development projects. Remember when Nicolas Batum came out of nowhere and gave us unexpected production. That's what we need to help us progress towards respectability.

The lottery would be if Damian Lillard surprises people like Brandon Roy did. I don't see any chance of that but it is early. I could see in summer league that Brandon was surprisingly good and would elevate the team by giving us our 2nd quality starter to pair with Zach. It wasn't until preseason that I could see Brandon was going to be a franchise player. I'm still waiting for Lillard to look like a quality starter.

We are rolling out Lillard, Williams, Leonard, Freeland, Claver and Barton. The prayer is this group produces a couple of quality starters. If that happens, we are far ahead of what we should expect.

stopped reading after that. idiotic post. should be banned for stupidity honestly.

Lillard will be way better than Matthews this year. rookie or not.

as for the ranking.. ehh.. should be 19-20 to start out but it doesn't matter really.

Knock it off. You know better. Everyone is entitled to their opinion whether you like it or not. Just state why you think the Blazers will be better and go forward from there.

I think #23 is pretty fair. I wouldn't lump the Wizards in that list in the OP. The Wizards should have a decent season. They look pretty decent at every position.

The Blazers just need time. Time to grow as an NBA player, time to gain experience (and confidence), time to get use to a new coach and a new system. Let's see how they're doing around the All Star break. Portland needs to sign Joel Przybilla though. They need a big veteran.

Re-signing Batum was at the top of the Blazers' list. The cost was high, almost too high, but the cost of letting him walk to the Wolves for nothing was higher. I might have been tempted to take their offer of Derrick Williams and another first- round pick for him ... but probably agree that the Blazers made the right call on Batum.

I thought Lillard was the best point guard in the draft. He is in for a pretty big adjustment, going from the Big Sky Conference to the NBA, but if the Summer League is any indication at all, I think it will happen quicker than people think. Leonard, a project, was a little more of a reach, but he has the requisite size and athletic ability to be a starting NBA center someday. Barton was a bit of steal in the second round. He is a good scorer with a nice midrange game. Overall, they had a strong draft.

Fine with that ranking. Even if we suck though, there are so many rookies and new players, not to mention a new coach, it should be a fun year and exciting summer next year.

I guess its just that a player that avgs 13ppg
and 4rpg in 30mins shouldnt demand so
much money.. .I guess its the potential thing.

When does the potential waiting period end??
Is it by season or by age??

Batum will have my backing when hes avg
like 18ppg 7rpg 1.5bpg

you can't take this thing seriously, we are still in July, FA isn't even over yet, so much can still happen from now until the season starts, not to mention this is just a person's opinion

Yup same. I don't think many are gonna argue that Batum was overpaid. The consolation may be that his contract is up before the rookies will be in extension territory.

This is the year to play our rookies and lose lots of games to hopefully get a good lotto pick and grab our last piece. I'm hoping for some player achievements and a top 5 pick. Lillard for co ROY with A Davis, LMA for all-star, all rookie team for out rooks, MIP for Batum these are just some things to look forward to.

I wonder if Aldridge will start to become impatient if we don't build a contender by the time his contract is up despite what he's said. Realistically, I can't see us getting better than a late lotto pick as long as LA is healthy for the season. We have too much talent to be a 'bottom feeder' (by this I mean bottom 5 team) and we don't have enough talent to make the playoffs.

I'd say our best shot is for one of the rookies to turn into the absolute best case scenario (namely Lillard) if we're gonna continue to build this team with LA as a key component. If the Blazers do decide to trade LA at some point we could probably get a decent return of young talent and/or picks and if we're trying to make our pick high, trading LA would almost be a necessity. At this point I imagine Olshey is waiting on LA until he sees what the rookies can do in the immediate future and he'll make his decision from there.

As much as I love me some Aldridge, I wouldn't mind trading him to get a wing with star potential. Assuming that we can lock hickson up long term and he is as productive this year as last. I would think someone like Harden... But I really don't think he's worth the max contract he will get.
